Bama fans, how comfortable are you with Coker at QB next season?

I didn't think he was as good as "the media" made him to be leaving FSU, but he's not awful. How do y'all feel?

Also, I heard there were rumblings that Bateman is/was thinking of transferring...true or nah?

I think between Coker and the qb's we were already developing, as well as Blake coming in, we'll be okay. But whoever it is, it will be the first season he is a starter (AGAIN) and of course I'm uncomfortable with that.

Cooper Bateman:

“Coming out of high school, I knew this was going to be a long road choosing a school like this in the SEC. I didn’t expect to start right away. It’s a long road and I know that, and I’m willing to stick it out.”

If Coker's the man, great. If not, there are 3 guys who have been around for 2 or more years with the #1 duel threat QB out of high school already there and in class, so......the big wheel just keeps on rolling.

I have zero expectations for be QB position this fall. I thought we would be fricked if Sims started and I looked like a fool. I'm just gonna let the good times roll and hope our D is lights out.

not comfortable ... would like someone who will definitely be there for at least 2 years, if not 3 ... we have talent at qb ... not sure why it's not being developed ...

How is it not being developed?

AJ was a 3 year starter, this past year we had a senior, Sims, who was in the program for 5yrs as a back up behind some pretty good qbs, one was a 3 year starter. Sims did pretty damn good job and obviously he was developed.

Next year we have another senior, Coker, looking to take over, then several younger guys looking to take over. You have no idea if the qb position is being developed or not. This is what happens when you have a 3 year starter leave and have qbs waiting behind him in every class. They stack up and the senior guy wins out a lot of the times. Yeah I would prefer a guy to have multiple years of eligibility remaining to win the job but if it's a senior with one year left that great, he paid his dues and if he's good enough deserves the chance to start. If not then you won't have any back ups sticking around which would be worse, one injury away from starting.

Point is you don't know shite about if the qb is being developed or not.

Sorry I missed the opportunity to respond with this line earlier:

"Why, do you want him back?"

Pretty comfortable. Has looked good as back up. Gets another spring to improve. Hopefully the interior of the Oline improves with new players.

Pretty comfortable. I think he's healthier, more comfortable, and more knowledgeable than when we last saw him play.

I think the offense will feature more down field throws than last season. Should open up the run game too. Coker can do some damage with his legs as well but he won't have the same elusiveness as Sims.

For me, the concern with Coker is not his physical ability, it's his ability to manage the game and make good decisions. Having more time in the system should allow him to be much better in that area. Also, I think without the pressure of trying to win the job in such a short period of time, Coker should be more comfortable and make better decisions.

I'll say I'm 7/10 on the comfort scale with Coker at qb heading into the season.

Think he'll do a good job. So I'm pretty comfortable with him and mostly with the coaching staff abilities and know that they will put whomever is the qb in the best position for the team to win games.

I'm a little nervous about the situation. Coker couldn't even beat out Sims, and plus Kiffin is probably leaving. We're definitely in a bind.

And Sims put 55 on y'all's sorry arse defense. Whoever shows up next year will do the same thing.
