Nobody even knows if Coker will be the man. If he didn't look like he was painting the Mona Lisa with the time he takes to release the ball, he could probably light it up. He needs to be able to play instinctively instead of thinking too much. It was pretty weird watching Lane do 90% of the thinking and let Blake do the athletic stuff. It worked, for the most part. I don't know what his plan would be with Coker.

Was confused about that comment as well.

just think that we had enough qbs on the roster that we shouldn't have had to bring in a transfer ... seems the coaches really wanted coker to win the job, just based on personal observation of some things (not claiming to "know shite" as other internet experts know) ... coker will be here for 1 more year ... i'd prefer to have someone set for at least 2 years just to provide continuity ...
but again, it's just an OPINION ... not trying to ruffle feathers or claim to be an EXPERT ...

I would think the level of comfort is directly proportional to whether Kiffin leaves or not. He did a heck of a job this year.

I wouldn't even be worried if Kiffin left.

Very Comfortable! The 2015 team will be better than 2014 just in talent alone. A lot of surprise starters coming in 2015.

Comfortable with the QB that wins the job. Can't be as bad as the two at LSU.

If Coker's the man, great. If not, there are 3 guys who have been around for 2 or more years with the #1 duel threat QB out of high school already there and in class, so......the big wheel just keeps on rolling.

So you are in disagreement that last year was a rebuilding year as other Bama fans have claimed?

I'm asking for a friend who's doing a research paper on rebuilding vs reloading. TIA for participating

Well be sure to give coach Saban a call and let him know, what about other positions when we get a transfer or a juco? It would be short sighted of a coach to not bring in as many players as possible for a critical position like qb. But reality is we didn't have to, Sims won the Job and was on the roster for 5 years.

Well do tell us these observations you personally observed that lead you to believe the coaches really wanted Coker to win the job. I mean, they had the free will to name him the starter and said it was really close. Confusing, really.

Pretty sure any sane person would want that as well. However, it should go to the player who gives the team to win, now, not the following year. Plus, if a coach started passing over upper class men just for sake of continuity in the future then that coach would find himself with out any back ups staying in the program for more than a year or two. This is a problem that happens when you recruit at a high level, look back to USC in the early 2000s. They had several guys start there senior year only and won a bunch of games.

But back to point on why I first responded to you. You said the Qbs weren't being developed and gave some half assed reason. When in fact they are being developed and Blake Sims is proof. So was AJ, so was McElroy. What happens in the future we'll find out this fall but to say they aren't being developed is wrong.

Considering he didn't win the spot this year, they shouldn't feel that good.....

Based on the last 6 or 7 years including this past year, I rest easy at nite knowing CNS will make the right decision.

When Saban breaks in new qbs, we win the SEC. We need to run the ball more this year and use Coker as a game manager and we'll be fine.

i'm giving an opinion on an internet forum ... internet forums exist for opinions ... i do not believe my opinion is worthy of an attempt to contact the head coach ... perhaps your opinion is ...

from various bama forums i read, coker was getting more snaps in summer camp than sims, at least initially ...

long term vs short term ... i'd prefer long term ... i do not, however, suggest that my view is more knowledgeable than saban's ...

greg and aj were multi-year starters ... which is what i'd prefer ... if coker couldn't beat out sims, who was moved around quite a bit before settling on qb, then what's the worry with putting in someone who's young and could, given saban's ability to plug in qbs, equal coker's success for 2015, then reaping the rewards for 2016 and beyond? ... bateman, in particular, is a curious situation ... very good athlete who had a decent, if not spectacular, spring game ... again, it's an opinion ... didn't mean to suggest my opinion is better than yours ...

Coker/Cooper/Cornwell will have a heated competition this Spring

The QB I could see transferring is Alec Morris

I'm very interested to see Coker's development this offseason

No you didn't.
