It's no secret that the Steg is a complete dump. UGA did a decent facelift on her a couple years ago but it is still a pile of shite on the inside. If McGarity et al want our mens bball program to attract top talent they gotta pony their cheap asses up or GTFO. There is too much talent in Georgia for us to not be a perennial power.

If anything build a new gym for the guys and keep the Steg for the girls and gym dogs.

A dump? Why in my day we watched games in Woodruff Hall, and we liked it....

Absolutely not. But it's something that needs to be brought up within the administration. Top talent brings in top money.

not gonna happen. Especially after they paid all the cash for a face lift. Steg is gonna be around awhile. I still think it can be decent if they do some work to the interior but not sure they ever will.

Unless they build a new facility off Milledge, a renovation is the best we can ever hope for

frick you. Don't allow the rantards to confince you that something is wrong with Stegeman.

Agreed. Stegeman has its flaws but it beats a boring and sterile facility located far away from campus like some schools have.

Stegeman is also louder than most arenas (when full).

Let me rephrase.

We need to renovate the inside seating. I love the fact that our facility is right on campus. The student section in the "end zone" is atrocious. I don't know if there's much that can be done about it though.

I'm with you on moving the students. Seating along the side for the students would be much better for TV, but I know those seats are the people with $ so they won't be getting moved.

Have you ever been to Cameron Indoor? I went a few weeks ago and I felt like I was about to watch a high school game. It smelled like an old gym and you sit up on each other. I can guarantee that the Steg has nothing to do with success. It has everything to do with the University brand being a Football school. If you can recruit at high level and fill the stadium, the argument goes away. Infiltrate the AAU scene in Atlanta, and start paying these guys. That’s how you recruit if you don’t have Coach K, Bill Self, Pitino or Roy Williams as your coach.

new arena does not recruiting help, but there was some talk awhile back with Athens-Clarke County and UGA co-owning a nice arena of some decent size to be used by both the UGA athletic dept and the City of Athens..was thought to be an addition to the Classic Center giving the area a good regional meeting resource as well as a quality athletics venue. I don't see why this hasn't been done. There are available hotel rooms ready and downtown restaurants and music venues are far better than places in Gwinnett and Cobb. Hell, they could even entice a minor league hockey team there.

Negetive sir.

We mess around and make a final four, then we can revisit this topic.
