2 out single for Mercer scores another.

6-1 Bears and another passed ball advances the runner to 2nd.

I may not make it very far with this team this year. Do they all have mono? Are they all hungover? Playing like garbage.

We open the bottom of the 3rd by hitting the first Mercer batter. POW!

We then give up a single to the next guy, putting runners on the corners with no outs. ZAP!

And, not soon thereafter, ANOTHER Mercer single with no outs scores a run. 7-1, 2 men on 1st and 2nd, and nobody out. WHAMMO!

BUT WAIT! Guess what happens next... A BUNT SINGLE! Yesssssssssss. Bases loaded, nobody out, and we are doing everything to ensure that we start the season 0-4 on the road and loses to this 11-11 team!

Guys. GUYS. We just walked in a run. Nobody out. 8-1 Mercer

I can't decide if this is as bad or worse than Perno's last 3 seasons. Cause with perno's teams, you knew they were shite, had no talent, and the coach was all but mailing it in.

But we've seen this team actually beat a ranked FSU squad, hit with power, and throw 7+ Ks in a game. We know Stricklin is a solid coach. This is fricking ambarassing.

Mercer hits into a fielder's choice, out at home.

Bases loaded, 1 out, and still 9-1 in the bot 3rd

Sac fly to right scores another.

2 on, 2 out, and it's 10-1 Mercer in the Bottom of the 3rd.

Now Mercer doubles to left, scoring a run.

11-1, 2 on 2nd and 3rd, 2 out

And we load the bases, hitting the batter.

We've taken Bowers out of the game at 1st, put in Morgan Bunting. He flies out to left. Naturally.

Walsh lines out to right.

We've also put in Mitchell Webb for Trevor Kieboom. He grounds out to 2nd.

But, hey, if we can just hit two grand slams, we can make the final score only look kind of embarrassing.

11-1 Mercer in the Bot 4th.

Stricklin has now benched most of the starters. King, Kieboom, Bowers, Bell, and Weber all out for freshmen and backups. Only Walsh, Wrenn, and Stephens remain.

Mercer responds with a solo homer to right.

But we actually follow it with 3 outs. Might have been our best inning all game.

12-1 Bears in the 5th

Stricklin has now pulled Wrenn and Tucker has been pulled at Pitcher for Taylor Hicks. I guess if we're going to get bitch made by yet another smaller in-state program, Stricklin wants everyone to play a part.

Mercer doubles and then singles with 1 out, scoring a run.

Strikeout Hicks. 2 away.

And a fly out to right. Inning over.

13-1 Bears in the 6th.

We don't do anything in the top of the 6th. We do change out Hicks at pitcher for Wallace, though. I'm guessing Stricklin just wants to use this as an opportunity to get experience now.

The game has mercifully ended.

Remember when I told all ya'll that Stricklin was a terrible player's coach, lost his team last year, and would wind up being a debacle as a coaching hire? It really kind of sucks seeing that prediction coming true...

Especially since baseball is EASILY my second favorite SEC sport.
