By saying Geoff Collins made a lateral move? Now, he is going to be a Co-DC with Randy Shannon. Shannon is also the Associate HC and LB coach which was Collins position.

In no way, shape, or form would taking a Florida defensive coordinator in any fashion be a lateral move from basically the same position at Mississippi State.

I would've said the same thing had Freeze went to Florida.

I'll bet it's the other way around.

I agree. I'm talking about the co-DC thing. Is it worth it if it isn't his defense, or he's not calling the sets?

Eh, DC at State > co-DC at Florida. Better chance to prove yourself. That's assuming Shannon's title isn't in name only though

Not if Freeze would have taken an associate head coach position.

DC at UF is better than DC at MSU, but DC at State is better than co-DC at UF.

You're making a lot of assumptions long before the season starts.

If he's the one scheming and calling the plays, then he's the DC regardless of title. You don't have any idea what the other guy's responsibilities are yet.

It's a name only. Probably part of the deal to get him and to be able to pay him more than just a LB coach.

I'm sure Shannon will have input but Geoff will be calling the D.

State is not in the same ball park as UF.

Collins was hired first, he is going to be the DC. This move gives the Co-Coordinator title to Shannon and UF still has the "recruiting coordinator" title to give out to TBD WR coach.

no it was always a retarded statement seeing as how he got his MSU job by being a good OC at UF and he also saw charlie become the head coach at louisville so idiotic statement no matter how you spin it

coordinator at fla>>>coord at miss st this is 100% fact

Mullen was right about taking a step down but what does that say about the desirability of coaching for Mullen? Diaz will jump the first chance he gets.

You're exactly right. Im assuming the only reason someone would be labeled co-DC, is because thats exactly what they are.

Geoff is listed as DC. No co-DC title for him. Randy is listed as co and LB coach and associate head coach.

I'm positive it's a title for more pay thing.

Maybe Collins wanted to get what he could financially before they played that option offense

Again,..why is the job different at Florida? What makes it different? Different regimen? Different rules? Why is it different than at OM or State.

I think it will go similar to how it went with Diaz when he went to Texas.
