Things like the food, different road games/game atmospheres and the bowl tie ins. The national exposure stuff like that.

I may have been in the minority when you guys first joined the sec on the sec rant. I thought you guys would be a great addition and would bring a lot to the conference.

Once again, Thanks for allowing me to post on your Team Message board. I think we can all agree that kansas sucks and just a fyi Arkansas had more big12 wins than they did.

I have always watched the SEC. Liked the SEC. Being my family and lineage is from Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida. Parents were married in Mobile Al. Part of that lineage is on display in front of the Walmart in Bentonville. Lynch log cabin. My great grandfather's. Dad slept in that cabin when he was a kid. We all aren't yanks. Been a Razorback fan since I can remember thanks to the parents. My loyalty lies in the state I grew up in though.

Don't think we will ever have true SEC fandom. Too much allegiance to pro sports here, especially the Cardinals. Missouri may be the only state where Baseball is bigger than football.

The program benefits immensely with the exposure and Pinkels program is far from the SEC embarrassment people predicted.

It's changing down here. Seeing a lot more Mizzou merchandise, decals, etc.

basic "Mizzou can't win because of reasons X,Y,Z", mentality, which simply isn't true.

Cardinals baseball and Chiefs football are not some impossible barrier for Mizzou, plenty of other programs have multiple popular pro teams in the state. Ohio and Florida for a couple of examples, and Mizzou has the advantage of being the only D1 state school.

We've been playing catch up for a long time, but that excuse is wearing thin, we've seen what this crew is capable of, it's about time for the next AD-HC to take the reins and work on getting to a higher level. It may well not happen in many of our lifetimes, but it's not the impossible task made out to be either.

Still hate it. The move was about money.... which is dumb considering college sports are supposed to be amateur. We dont fit geographically, and it destroyed all the rivalries we had.

so bordering on 3 other SEC states is "not fitting geographically"?

I believe the Cardinals are #1 in arkansas followed by Atlanta Braves. Their is quite a few radio affiliates that pick up the cardinals here.

Love it. Wish it had happened a long time ago. Even the trolls are better in the SEC.

I seriously question a Mizzou "fan" who would rather play Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and the Texas schools over Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, and the rest of the SEC.

If that doesn't excite you then I'm sorry that you're imprisoned in the past. How sad that must be.

You cant tell me that the State of Missouri is in the Southeastern portion of the United States. The distance between the school played regularly is also important to me. Sure, the SEC has tradition and all that stuff, but it's not ours. We have our tradition with kansas, KState, Nebraska, etc.

I don't understand the sec boner everyone has. We screwed our Olympic athletes with the move. We don't get to play the beakers, and most of all, we are trying so hard to fit in when we obviously never will.

Neither is Arkansas or A&M. In fact, they're further west than Missouri.

Do you hate southerners? Please understand that the entire southern half of Missouri below the Missouri River identifies with southern heritage. Hell, "Little Dixie" from Booneville to Hannibal identifies more with southern heritage and that area is north of Columbia and St. Louis.

Something else is going on with you. Can you not handle the trolling from the rant when they call us Yankees?

I grew up in rural Mo, in the Little Dixie area and the number of pickups with gun racks and "stars n bars" was pretty astounding.

We never even remotely considered ourselves as "yankees", of course I know some people from STL who think they have to be "yankees" to not be "hicks",, I kinda feel sorry for those idiots too...

What's not to like?

The whole Mizzou doesn't fit is just stupid, IMHO. God, family and country is pretty universal!

I grew up in a small rural town in SW MO. I recognize the difference between parts of our state. Nothing is "wrong," just a little confused as to why people didn't give this much support when we were in the Big 12. I don't like fair weather fans. I really don't mind the "yankee" talk, I like it, it means we ruffled their feathers. I enjoy trolling, I just don't enjoy ignorance.

All that said, how bout them Tigers

What rivalries? kU? Frick them. Nubs? They were already gone. tejas? Frick them. They're the reason I wanted out. Baylor? No history there. Texas Tech? Again, what history?

I'll give ya that if the Big 8 was still the Big 8, it would be a different story and my take would be different. But we weren't in the Big 8 anymore. We were in the Big 12 minus 2 of those teams that we did have history with (Colorado and Nebraska) while the conference was on the verge of imploding.

I love the move. The money is better. The stability is better. The venues are better. The fans are better. The competition is better. Can't really think of one reason I'd rather have stayed in the Big Tejas.

I don't either, really, some people take it way too seriously, anyway.

Mo isn't a "midwest" state, it isn't a northern state and it isn't a southern state, it's kinda like a combo pizza state. We wouldn't fit into the big 10 footprint any better although some would act like it's a much better fit than the SEC.

The old Big 8 days were very special, but that is now a bygone era, kids born in the last decade know nothing of the Stormin Normin days and the battles with the Billy Tubbs and Johnny Ores. Or the gridiron Tigers that out performed so often it was just expected we could knock off a big name program.

As far as I'm concerned, playing the beakers now is doing them a favor and I'm not interested in EVER doing any beaker a favor. Our future looks southeast now and that's not a bad direction at all!
