Well, they both need each other, but it begs the question...............how prestigious would the SEC be without the contributions of Alabama?

That is interesting coming from an LSU fan. Anytime we speak of supporting the SEC your fan base is one of the first ones to demolish that notion.

Alabama doesn't need the SEC at all, Bama should go independant and let the ACC pass the SEC by.

Alabama IS the SEC
Just like
Tennessee IS the SEC
Florida IS the SEC
Georgia IS the SEC
Vanderbilt IS the SEC
LSU IS the SEC
Ole Miss IS the SEC
Kentucky IS the SEC
Auburn IS the SEC
Miss State IS the SEC
These teams made the SEC what it is

In the old days, they were your biggest rival.

The SEC gets Alabama through the crappy years. The conference is about financial stability. Alabama is a small state and the school is not national brand like a Notre Dame, so if Alabama ever left the SEC, they would suffer greatly.

Georgia Tech was (past tense) the "Notre Dame of the South".
Or, so they thought.
Then they left the SEC...

Well that was dumb, and I am very conservative with those labels. Any idea where that would leave an Old Miss if any truth to it?

Georgia Tech left the SEC, for all the wrong reasons. But, as an SEC member, I think that all current members are an integral part of the whole. The building and sustaining of the conference is on all the current members. The conference is not just a football conference.

The other SEC teams are just role players in Bama's movie.

I'm fully aware of Alabama's history.

All though it may make you feel good to say all the original memebers are what made the sec. Anyone that refuses to believe that Arkansas and South Carholina joining in 1992 didnt make the sec into what it is today is dillusional. The championship game is what transformed the sec into its current glory. Would other teams been ok? Probably, but it was we two that accepted the invite and left our old conferences. No Hogs n Cocks, no championship game.
