I'll update the OP. It'll be interesting to see the differences between schools.

UF - NA
UT - $4M through 3/1/16
$3M from 3/1/16-3/1/17
$2M from 3/1/17-3/1/20
$0 from 3/1/20-2/28/21
UA - NA
Auburn: If Malzahn leaves Auburn before the end of his six-year deal, the head coach owes the university the sum total of the compensation Auburn pays to any assistant coaches who don't follow Malzahn to his new job or aren't retained by Auburn after a new coach is hired. (sorry ya'll)
aTm - @$5M
UK - NA if I understood Belle correctly
Arky - $10 in buffet credits in Vegas until proven otherwise (I have my doubts that the buffet credits aren't correct but pig poster says $2M)
LSU - ?
MSU - Not sure what it is but they have one I think
OM - Nor sure what it is but they have one
Vandy -
USC -
UG - doubt they have one

The buyout if someone hires them, or the buyout if you fire them?

hires them - that's what a buy out is IMO

Terming someone and paying the rest of their contract is different than a buy out.

It depends on when/if Stoops goes. There's not an official buyout amount. Just percentages of pay based on when he leaves.

quote:

If Stoops leaves UK at any point, he owes the school nothing – Barnhart said he doesn't believe in buyouts – but if he's terminated without cause he is owed various percentages of his remaining pay depending on the timing.

He'd get all of it if terminated before Dec. 1, 2017, 80 percent of it if fired between then and Nov. 30, 2018, and 60 percent if let go without cause any time after that.

2.2 M x # of years left

We like big buyouts

Edit: wait are we talking how much the school pays to fire them or how much the coach pays to leave

$13M if we fire Bielema, $2M if Bielema leaves on his own.

Those will probably be changing here in the next couple weeks as Long and Bielema are reworking his deal, most likely raising the buyout if Bielema leaves on his own.

Ah ok.

So if Malzahn left and no one followed him it would total up to around 5 million.

your opinion of what a buy out means is irrelevant.

There's a buy out for terminating someone as well....and it isn't always the exact amount of what's remaining on their contract.

in fact...it's usually less than that. We didn't pay Nutt what was left on his contract.

This is if UT fires him.

If he leaves on his own it is

$4M through 3/1/16
$3M from 3/1/16-3/1/17
$2M from 3/1/17-3/1/20
$0 from 3/1/20-2/28/21
