I said it earlier before this came out but....
Mullen and Collins tell Payne he might not be back next season last week.
Mullen says Florida contacted him yesterday.
What can most infer from that?

Sounds like Mullen wanted him gone.
What I infer from it: Mullen's ego can't handle another coach taking up his spotlight. Much like we all loved Brewster, a lot of people loved Collins and he got a good deal of attention on social media and from the media. So Mullen premtively acts like Collins is gone even before a school calls for him.
Fwiw my gf is so sad he's gone. The women folk loved that bald head and energy he brings.
