We did all of that and it was a blast. We go to Big Cedar at least two or three times per year. However this was our first time at BC during Christmas. It was great.

Glad you had a great time!! The Christmas season is my favorite time to go to BC. It looks like something from a painting - so beautifully decorated. We used to go twice a year, once during summer & once during the holiday season - some time after Halloween but before Christmas. We haven't been the past few summers due to increasing baseball activities & shortened school summer vacations, plus, my aunt & uncle have a lake house at Greers Ferry, so we go there a lot. Although we enjoy the summer activities & being on Table Rock Lake, we enjoy the cold weather season at BC the most. It's just awesome when it snows there. Definitely take the 4WD though. ... What's the gingerbread construction in the lobby of the registration building this year? My favorites have been the "swan sleigh" & replica of the white church on the property. Love watching the pastry chefs build them.

Top of the Rock is my favorite place on the Midwest. The walk down to the wine cellar and whisky bar is incredible.

I can't wait to get up there after Christmas & try Osage. Did y'all eat there? If so, what dishes do you recommend? The bar there looks really cool as well. Are those natural rock stairs carved out leading to the wine cellar? ...Top of the Rock is truly amazing - just beautiful. Even the golf course is gorgeous & I don't even play. ... I still have a soft spot for Devil's Pool, though. That was the first place I'd ever had London Broil when I was pretty young & haven't had it as good anywhere else since. That's the first place we eat the night we get there, & that's the dish I always get - never disappointed. ... I'm so excited; cannot wait!! ... I guess we won't get to have breakfast with Santa like y'all did since he'll already be back at the North Pole, but I'm going to Grand Village, mainly to shop at Kringle's, in Branson, even though it'll be after Christmas. Love, love that place, too!!

Nah, he didn't. I think he was just guessing at it again because he's gotten to the point that he can't remember my real name most of the time, even though my real nickname is right in my handle. He calls me something different pretty much everyday. I'm not sure what the "g" is about though ... Geauxt, maybe?

What if I did, I don't remember addressing you?

Sorry, AG.

I read in another post that you may have collected some meteor dust while there.

Missy,

If you want to know more about Top of the Rock, read this thread from the Mizzou Board where I sold an Auburn fan into going to Top of the Rock on a random night while he was in Springfield, MO for business. It's full of information and pictures.

Top of the Rock - Killz Selling the Experience

My suggestion for the best Top of the Rock experience is to remember these five things:

1) First, pay for the cave tour at the Guest Center (parking lot). You must do the cave tour!

2) When you finish the cave tour, board a shuttle bus that will take you to the restaurants/driving range. Shuttles are free (I tip the driver). Parking at the restaurants is valet only and will cost you at minimum $10. Parking at the Guest Center is free. The shuttles are non-stop and most people take the shuttle.

3) It doesn't matter where you eat, the food will be good. On the other hand, the view will be unforgettable! Therefore, I don't have a suggestion on which restaurant you should choose. Heads or tails. However, after you eat, make certain to go inside Arnie's Barn and walk down the stairs (inside the restaurant) to the Pro Shop. Ask the Pro Shop to direct you to the driving range. A side note: You can rent a bucket of balls for $15. They provide the clubs. If you don't want to hit balls, at least walk out onto the driving range.

4) Once you are done with the driving range, go to the Osage Restaurant. Ask wait staff to direct you to the wine cellar. YOU MUST DO THE WINE CELLAR/WHISKEY BAR TOUR. Of all these things make sure to do this!

5) When in the wine cellar, order a double rye. Ask the bartender to direct you to the infinity pool. At that moment, pick up your drink and walk in that direction. I won't spoil the surprise. Make sure to have your camera ready the entire time.

DISCLAIMER: THE OSAGE RESTAURANT AND WINE CELLAR DO NOT OPEN UNTIL 5:00 PM. I WOULD SUGGEST SHOWING UP AROUND 3:00 PM TO DO YOUR CAVE TOUR AND THEN AFTERWARD HEAD TO THE OSAGE RESTAURANT AS THE SUN IS GOING DOWN. THE ENTIRE PLACE IS DESIGNED AROUND THE SETTING SUN FOR MAXIMUM EFFECT.

Have fun and post your experience for me to read.
