In Bert's first season he relied heavily on his first recruiting class. His second class wasn't as heralded and lacked the 5* recruit that had the nation captivated awaiting his choice of college, and the thereafter dramatics provided by his mother that kept the spotlight on the program albeit in a negative manner.

How do we feel the 2nd crop of Bert's crootin' harvest performed in their first fall on the Hill?

In alphabetical order.

Troy Allison - QB; McGregor, TX (Walk On) -- Redshirted and surely helped on the scout team.

Anthony Brown - DE; Miami, FL -- Played in 3 games early in the season. Recorded 1 tackle for 1 lost yard. I believe he can still get a RS year having only played sparingly in the first 3 games. Once Wise and Lewis were back on the field our depth at DE let us put the RS back on him. I think he's got a lot of promise and a year in the program and training with Herb will make us glad we didn't waste his Freshman year playing ST.

Tyler Colquitt - FB; Little Rock, AR (walk on/scholly) -- Injured in fall camp, I don't believe he played at all during the season and took a RS year w/ Arinze handling most of the FB duties.

Jared Cornelius - WR; Shreveport, LA -- Played in all 12 games, had 283 all purpose yards. 4th on the team in receptions with 15, caught 2 TD's and had 196 REC yards for 13.1 ypc. He had 5 RSH for 23 yards and returned 8 punts for 64 yards for an 8 yard avg. I think Cornelius performed as well as we could have expected. We maybe would've liked to see him targeted a little more, but that's a QB issue and BA rarely threw over the middle where a slot/possession WR does their damage.

Juan Day - RB; North Little Rock, AR -- Redshirted. Hopefully is ready to go beast mode next season. I don't expect Jwill to be back, and with Korliss tard'n his way out of here. Day is going to get a chance to carry the ball.

Kendrick Edwards - WR; Miami, FL -- Played in 10 games. Had a little suspension time and missed a game or two. Finished the year with 4 REC for 70 yards and a TD. Being our only skyscraper WR he showed promise and appeared to be a weapon in the redzone. Coaching failed to put him in the games in situations where his talents could best be utilized. I had hoped he could help bring a different dimension to our passing game where we have a QB that routinely overthrows. I was wishing that his length and athleticism might give BA confidence to throw to him more in the endzone in windows that would allow Edwards to make plays. I expect we'll see a lot of production out of him in the years to come.

Dwayne Eugene - LB; Marrero, LA -- Played in all 12 games, almost exclusively in ST. Made 6 tackles on the year. We need about 8 more players like him. He's got a chance to be an extremely good LB here.

Cornelius Floyd - CB; Miami, FL -- Played in 9 games, mostly ST it seemed but I do recall seeing him in normal defensive play. Made 4 tackles and had 1 pass breakup on the season. Floyd and Tolliver are why Will Hines got benched and was told to get his grades up and get ready to transfer. I suspect he'll be a starter at nickel with Tevin Mitchel graduating.

Johnny Gibson - OL; Dumas, AR (walk on) -- redshirted. will be surprised if he's ever more than a mop up guy.

Khalia Hackett - LB; Douglasville, GA -- Played in 10 games, got a ton of experience on ST and was very active when on the field. Had 9 tackles and a forced fumble on the year. Could be the playmaker we need to replace Spaight next year. Does a mean robot and could be a team leader in the next couple years.

Jake Hall - DE; Springdale, AR (gift scholly) -- Was set to grayshirt but was given a scholarship when the OT out of Dallas couldn't qualify and went to Juco. His weight gain program has gone well, maybe too well. I think he's being bulked up to play on the inside. I don't see him playing much as newcomers will come in with more natural talent.

Josh Harris - LB; Pine Bluff, AR (walk on) -- a coup for the walk on program. Like Colquitt, had scholarship offers to lower level schools but wanted to be a Razorback bad enough to take the chance to prove himself to be a SEC level player. If he had a little more of his dad's size he would have been a 4 star recruit.

Cole Hedlund - K; Argyle, TX -- Very disappointing to see the kicking game practically lose 2 games this season while an All-American, national record setting kicker is being redshirted. I'm assuming he didn't show a certain maturity level that Bielema wants in his kickers, so the RS year was to grow him personally as much as physically.

Bijohn Jackson - DT; El Dorado, AR -- "He has a great, great arse on him". Played in all 12 games, recorded 9 tackles, 1 for a loss of 2 yards. He had a pass break up but no sacks or QB hurries. We changed the DT philosophy up from gap plugging DT's that were meant to stonewall and contain the interior to starting Philon and Johnson who are both smaller quicker guys and could get penetration into the backfield and get to the QB. Bijohn didn't have a bad year, but it wasn't stellar either. He did well when he was in and didn't make mistakes that obviously hurt us in bad situations. He'll keep getting better and if Philon happens to leave for the NFL, he'll be counted on heavily next season.

Jack Kraus - TE; Bentonville, AR -- redshirted. He'll be a depth guy for his career here as the 3 signees in the incoming class have heaps more talent. Keep hearing conflicting information regarding a move to OT. Would be nice if one of our media people would ask about these RS and the plans for them.

Josh Liddell - S; Pine Bluff, AR -- Played in 10 games and had 10 tackles and 1 pass break up. He got burned early in the year and his PT was reduced but he bounced back and improved week by week. Had a couple chances to get interceptions late in the year, he'll be light years better with the bowl practices, spring, summer, and another fall camp under his belt. I think him and Coley will make a formidable duo at S before they leave Arkansas.

Rafe Peavey - QB; Bolivar, MO -- Redshirted. At times we were praying that the boy wonder could be ready. I don't see him being ready to contribute until his Jr. year as the competition he played against at Bolivar wasn't a true measure of his ability. We hope he can beat out Austin Allen and Storey after next year.

Frank Ragnow - C; Chanhassen, MN -- Not sure how many games he played in but as the season went along it appeared that Swanson had solidified himself as not just the starter but a full time player that can last throughout an entire game. Knarf may end up at OT then back to C if we have injury problems this coming season.

Santos Ramirez - CB; Shreveport, LA -- Redshirted. We're building that depth. With Jennings and Smith our secondary looks poised to be really salty and not really shitty like the Haynes/Taver/Ash years.

Randy Ramsey - LB; Ft. Lauderdale, FL -- Played in 6 games, recorded 8 tackles, .5 for loss for -1 yards. I recall he had an injury of some sort, he seemed to be playing really well when he was in, by the back half of the season Spaight and Ellis had really turned it on and even my most hated player Braylon Mitchell had started playing with some heart. Injury and youth limited him in the last half of the season. Looking forward to seeing his improvement in the spring.

JoJo Robinson - WR; Miami, FL -- redshirted. Another promising young player that is athletic and fast. We should at least have a WR corp that can get open with Hill, JoJo, JCorn, Edwards, and Deon Stewart.

Henre' Tolliver - CB; Marrero, LA -- Call him the master lock, he shut down Amari Cooper who will be the Heisman runner up this year when no one and I mean no one else could. We had a great gameplan that day. The confidence got to his head a little bit as he took more chances later in the year and it nearly cost us a couple times where he could've gotten burned badly. He'll be a fun one to watch progress. Loads of potential. He finished the year having played in 10 games with 17 tackles, 1 for loss of 4 yards, 1 sack, 1 INT, 1 pass break up and 1 hell of a surge to go into the spring practices.

Brian Wallace - OT; Florrisant, MO -- redshirted. Glad we had that luxury despite how bad Brey Cook was at times. Looking for big things from this player.

Armon Watts - DT; St. Louis, MO -- redshirted. Needed to work on the body and build mass and strength. He's got a good frame to be a solid contributor in a couple seasons.

Josh Williams - LB; Ft. Lauderdale, FL -- Yea I know he's a Soph. and played a year at Juco. For all purposes he's a freshman though. He played in all 12 games and finished 8th in tackles with 29. He had a sack for a loss of 7 yards. Josh appears to be ready to blow up in the coming season. I'm hoping he can supplant Brooks Ellis as the starting MLB.

Excellent work.

I really wish I could get in to the bowl practices to see how the guys that were redshirted are doing. I'm really excited to see how Juan Day looks. He just seems like the type of back that will excel in this offense.

Assuming that we can develope the quaterbacks we have, we should have a pretty good passing game in the near future. We have a lot of young talent at WR and TE.

Freudian slip? (fingers crossed)

Definitely some options at both those positions.

WR: Hatcher, Hollister, Corelius, Edwards, Robinson, Hill and Stewart. Also possibilities of Pettway and Reed.

TE: Henry, Sprinkle, Voelzke, Kraus, O'Grady, Gragg and Cantrell

We're definitely going to be loaded with potential at TE.

This is the only thing that I would disagree with, I think.

I hope they find a way to get both of those guys on the field at the same time. I think Williams is known for his speed so maybe he could play some outside.

Agree.

Ellis is a throwback LB (see Mark Smith) that may not be the best athlete on the field but will give 100% and never take a lazy step.

This.

I like Brooks's effort, and I feel like he actually played really well down the stretch despite coming back from an injury. He, like all of our back seven, has shown tremendous growth from last year to this year. If we can keep Shannon around -- we're so far into the coaching carousel season that I'm betting he's back next year -- I'm willing to bet that our linebackers will take yet another giant leap forward.

I think it's a positive that we weren't forced to burn a RS on Wallace.

Tolliver was certainly a pleasant surprise, thought Jackson would have had a bigger impact even as a true freshman.
Difficult to judge what we have with this class until next year when players like Day, Ramirez, Wallace, Ragnow, and several others start seeing the field consistently.

With a strong finish, the 2015 class should be even better.

Ellis might not take a lazy step but he often takes a wrong first step and he gets toasted in coverage.

I'm hoping he has a great year next year. We need a big man for a threat other than our TE's.

True, and I'm not opposed to him taking an extended breather during the Tech and A&M games
