Guys this has to be the most disappointing season in Auburn history with the expectation's put on this team. Add on to the fact that we controlled our own destiny with 4 games to go and went 1-3.. It came down to inconsistent oline play and a defense that lost their identity and became dreadful after the LSU game. Thought we would be in playoff with a chance to avenge last year's gut wrenching defeat in title game. Not sure where we go from here guys. I feel like we will be solid next year but it will take sometime to get over the disappointing close to this season.

3-9 0-8 terrible? That season was a soul crusher for me.

Yeah, going into the season so highly ranked, opening up with the marquee game of the year against USC and AU gets bitch slapped....then the loss to Tech.

1. 2003
2. 2004
3. 2012

There's three that beat it off the top of my head.

'03 pre-season number 1 by a lot of publications, then shite the bed against USCw

'04 I was sick watching that Sugar Bowl.

'12 speaks for itself.

2003 can top this year. 2014 we all had high expectations but tempered by the schedule we were facing.

2008 and yes 2012 to go 3-9 and 0-8 in the SEC made me ill.

Good point on 2004. To have that team and not get to go play USC for the NC was as harsh as they come.

2012 was the worst season but that's not the same as the most disappointing.

It's as if nobody remembers their own preseason predictions. Most called for 8-11 wins. We win our bowl game we will be at 9.

Disappointing considering where we were just a few weeks ago? Sure. But not nearly as gut wrenching as some of the seasons mentioned in this thread.

Not even remotely close.

Amongst winning seasons, 2006, 2003, 1997, and 1990 all surpass 2014 by a wide margin in terms of failing to meet expectations, and that's just off the top of my head. Every one of those teams had the talent and experience to win at least an SEC title, and only '97 came close.

You could probably add '85 and '71 to that list. Heisman Trophy winners and stout defenses but unable to win the games we needed to win.

As I said in the grade the season thread, this year's results were not a surprise to anyone who looked at things realistically.

That is ridiculous. 3 losses was the consensus with our schedule. We lost 4.

You want to talk disappointment, try 1990 or 1984.

1990 - 3 straight SEC championships, got up to #2 in the nation late in the season. Finished unranked losing to a 6-5 Bama team.

1984 - Preseason #1. Lost first game of season and last game to a shitty Bama team. Finished unranked.

This year wasn't even the most disappointing of my current college career
