By the time Chavis and Foster sign their high-priced extensions Durkin will have already taken the UNC job, he can't sit around forever without a job lined up for 2015.

If I was Sumlin, I'd give this guy a call. Experience all over and SC fans raved about him...

There it is. RT@DerekPonamsky: Sources tell me that LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis has a new three year $4m deal to stay at LSU.

That's the deal that has been sitting on his desk. According to the Tiger rant the contract is worded so that if Miles leaves the contract is null and void and he will not sign it with that included.

We should offer him one that makes him our DC even if Sumlin leaves or is fired

Why do you say that, that's a pitiful offer if true. Throw 1.7-1.8 at him and better terms

Virginia Tech athletic director Whit Babcock said he's "confident" defensive coordinator Bud Foster will be with the Hokies next season and indicated the school could have an announcement on that topic in the coming days.

"I feel good about Bud being a part of our program," Babcock said during a phone interview Monday morning. "He's incredibly valuable. I fully realize how important he is to our success. And I feel like we'll be in a position in the coming days to talk more on that. He's a big part of it. I feel good about it and confident that he'll be a part of it moving forward."

Now why would an AD need to come out and say that? Hasn't there been a contract on his desk for weeks now?

could there be some fire in that smoke?

OR

is it just a prelude to the gifs of Kyle Field melt that we may see?

I would be rock hard if we got Foster.

I would be rock hard if we got anyone. Really burnt out on the DC search at this point. Just want to hire somebody and move forward.

Report saying Foster has agreed with VT to a deal for about 750k annually.

Who knows if true

He's loyal to VT, I get that, but I also have a hard time believing they didn't have to pony up 1M to keep him there even if he is a head coach in waiting without the title.

We'll know whether it's true soon enough I suppose.

Either way at this point I don't see us getting a DC until after the bowl game
