I love my yard, and I said center-RIGHT. I am well-armed, and I use only hollow-point ammo in my handguns.
You know ... the shells that make a big hole going into the target and a much bigger hole when they exit.
So, you kids stay off my lawn.

Profanity is a tool, like any other element of language. I curse as needed, often when a certain shock-value is necessary to get someone's attention. George Carlin said it best, when comparing himself to "clean" comics. He opined (and I paraphrase) that only an idiot would deprive himself of a useful tool. The corollary is that one should only use a given tool when that tool is best-suited to the task at hand. When I need a scapel, I use a scapel. When I need a machete, I use a machete. Not a flaw or a lack of control. Pure pragmatism.
If you cannot effectively lead or accomplish goals without this crutch, you should admit it. This is like an alcoholic saying "I only drink when I want a drink"

I am cool with you Hank but I am an old guy with strong thoughts for fiscal conservatism and rights to privacy especially when on your own property.

Cussing is never necessary, I agree.
I choose to use it and am very cognizant if the forum I am in before so doing, but it is not necessary in the least to get anyone's attention imo.

But I do not know how often your job requires you to interact with the lower quarter of the demographic curve. For instance, you probably interact with enlisted personnel to some extent, but the very bottom tier does not qualify for the military.
I do interact with that bottom tier on occasion in my line of work. Sometimes a detailed, objective explanation just does not reach them. Often, they don't even understand it.
But a simple, straight-forward "you really f.u.c.k.e.d up here" will get their attention and make them focus on the rest of what needs to be said ... in less-foul language.

First off, I am enlisted. And I can (and do) get my points across effectively without profanity just as often as with.
Secondly, some of extended family on my dad's side in B/CS occupy that "very bottom tier." Say what you will, but I've watched my dad front out these individuals on numerous occasions without cussing a lick (to this day I've heard him cuss only once).
I have no problem with using profanity, as you can no doubt tell from my posting. But it is never an absolute necessity. It's just something we choose to use or not.

Spur, I did not say that profanity is always necessary ... or even that it is often necessary. However, it is sometimes a very effective tool, when others have been ineffective. I probably do not use it with any client more than once or twice in a given month ... in the context of dozens of hours of communications. Rare, but effective.
Given your Corps background and your degree from TAMU, I assumed you to be commissioned. It was logical ... but erroneous. You work for a living. My apologies.
Unlike your Dad, mine curses too much. I think that I might like to meet your Dad someday. Sounds like an impressive individual.
