Cornelius caught the punts securely and got positive yardage when he could.
Our kickoff strategy was brilliant IMO. LSU typically has a good return game, and I love that we took any chance of a big return away.
We made all our FG/XP attempts.
Our punting and punt coverage were superb.
Segrest may have saved his job, at least in my eyes.

Segrest only coaches one of the four special teams units.

I assumed he did it all since last time I looked at our website he was the only one listed as a special teams coach. Do you know the breakdown of our special team coaching assignments?

Segrest only coaches the kicker specialist part of special teams.
IIRC Thomas, M Smith, Shannon and Jennings oversee the different units (Kick, Kick return, Punt, Punt return) but not sure who has what.
We don't have a special teams coordinator because Bielema is over all of them as well.

which arguably has been the weakest.
Other than a few Chaney going Chaney moments I thought it was a well planned and executed game.
There wasn't an athletic disparity, we brought it to them. I love seeing a Razorback team with a solid D, a good pass rush, and swarming the ball and making tackles.
heck I love that almost as much as I do the power run game.

Henson beating Hedlund in fall camp didn't help. They saw it as an opportunity to strengthen Hedlund's leg with a developmental season while working on accuracy (tighter goalposts in college than HS) for the next 4 years but then Henson couldn't handle game situations.
McFain has performed well since Henson got removed.
Irwin Hill has boomed a couple after getting the hook for Toby Baker. Baker punted that 30 yarder in the UAB game and I-H took the job back asap.
Makes fans appreciate guys like Hocker who could do it all. Kickoff, FG, XP and Punt if he was needed.
Will Russ (Senior) who picked Texas over Hogs opening up the spot for Hocker finally has seen the field in his final year, as a punter LINK
Segrest's DL has also done well this year.

Was it you that was saying at the start of the year IH was trying to punt "normal" and was struggling but has since gone back to his old techniques and I thriving again?

Really wanted to see Marshall take one to the house again but we only got a chance to return one kickoff with the shutout and all. I guess I'll take it :P
Hope he can break one next week

Not sure what IH's problem was. Bielema early in the season said he wanted to give him an opportunity to punt normal for a shot at the NFL but that wasn't working so they would have to bring back the idea of rugby style if he didn't get it corrected. About that time Baker punted once in the UAB game and IH certainly hasn't been JK Scott this year but has boomed a couple recently.

McFain looked like a pro out there. Meanwhile, LSU usually has a good kicker, but he seemed affected by the cold weather. He said that he toed the ball, which probably means his muscles tightened too much for him to straighten out his foot.

McFain is a good example of the team growing into this season. Our kicking game is better. Our defense is quite a lot better. With Chaney finally making some adjustments even BA has been playing better. If we can carry this over into the next season then I like our chances to make some noise in the SEC West.

So much this.
Allen is obviously worlds better this year than last, but he's seemed to get better as the season goes on. I thought he played the best conference game of his career on Saturday, even though the offense only put up 17. He made good decisions, a couple of great throws, and didn't make the dumb mistake aside from that little flick pitch that almost got picked off late in the game.
The pass rush was the best it's been all season, and Flowers, Wise and Philon were beasting all game long and had Jennings hobbled and rattled by the 4th quarter. Plus, our coverage was fantastic, and I thought Collins played a hell of a game.
Really, outside of the two ridiculously stupid penalties by Gaines and Skipper, we were well-disciplined. As crazy as it sounds, we looked like Alabama out there -- big, physical and swarming.

Ummm so who's gonna replace Skipper? He's become a liability and is a magnet for personal foul calls now.
He's the Dennis Rodman of the SEC in the eyes of the pussy officials.

No one. He was the SEC OL if the week this week. He just has to keep his emotions check. He most definitely deserved that personal foul call.

Skipper and Chaney have to have some secret sidebet going on to see who can eff up the most at an inopportune time.
I love Skip, but that PF could have been huge, and ditto for the "3rd and Chaney" shotgun pass call when we needed to juice clock.

Most of the personal foul calls have been from guys clearing out opposing team members who are trying to pile on late.
Morgan at Ms. State, Skipper several times, etc.

While it's admirable they're sticking up for their team, you just can't do that these days.

The coaches need to sit down with Skipper in the off season and hammer home over the course of several weeks, that while his fire and intensity makes him a great lineman... if he doesn't harness it then he is going to cost his team wins.
He needs to grow up and stop making the dumb plays. If he does that then he probably has a really good shot at the pros.
