The power grid in Athens is fricked.....as late as 2008 the grid downtown was so over loaded the city was a actually removing convenience outlets in public spaces. We did a load study downtown in 2004 and there was literally not enough capacity available to add traffic signals and street lighting. This has been a problem for years and all of the residential construction that has taken place in the area has taxed the system to the breaking point.....

My house is ok, but I just tried to go to Chipotle and it was closed because of the outage
So now I'm pissed

well, if the grid can't handle traffic signals, it sure as shite ain't going to be able to handle an IPF…seriously….the air conditioning alone would shut it down.

this is ridiculous. Have lived and worked downtown for years...one power outage. No big deal.

I didn't notice one downtown tonight so I'm glad they got it fixed.

Yes it would. The problem is that every time a new development comes along Ga Power only makes patches and temporary fixes because there simply isn't enough space in existing spaces to make significant improvements and there is no will to do the work which would require MAJOR street closures for long periods of time.
I was involved with the development of the Hilton Garden Inn and the game day condos on Broad and both of these projects almost didn't happen because of aged infrastructure. I am not in the business so I wouldn't know as much about it but I am told the plumbing system is even worse than the power. I don't know of an development that has not been done but it wouldn't surprise me if there weren't some.

And it ain't my fault....thanks to this cool morning I'm putting 627 mw's on the grid. Don't make me fire up the lil frame 6.
