I'm sure it'll be something totally believable. That's why he should have lied in the beginning. The lie to pay it back would seem to irk the NCAA even more. That's how I'd see it from the NCAA perspective. If I'm an investigator for the NCAA, I can't wait to hear the lie about where the money came from.

It's just weird. All these kids have to do is just lie from the beginning. Yep, I signed a bunch of stuff. Nope, didn't take a dime. Game time.

Even is there was video you just say I didn't actually take that cash. I just held it for the picture 'cause I wanted to appear to be rolling in stacks or whatever they say.

Never said he was. The repayment of the money is going to more than likely be a lie. Right? I mean he's signing stuff for cash because he's poor. Rich Uncle Willie should have given him the cash in the first place instead of swooping in to help repay the cash.

You better line Gurley up at QB with Chubb behind him if you think you're going to run the ball on State, OM, Auburn, or Bama.

We have done it before and will do it again if necessary.

Not gonna deny he (and nearly every other big-time player) isn't getting some cabbage on the side. But, he broke a rule that is pretty cut and dry. My guess is he fessed-up and paid the consequences. I honestly prefer that to propagating lies. Again, if we had lost one or both of the past two games my love for the truth might have been diminished.

They will say his mom gave it to him out of her savings. The NCAA doesn't really have the scope of authority to track it down and will just accept it and move on.

Why would it be necessary, don't you have a QB?

UGA has now put their greed in front of the ethical thing to do; release him to be rehabilitated at Auburn.

They can request financial statements, from him and family, as long as he is still under the NCAA umbrella. However tracking down from that, limits their scope quite a bit. And the amount isnt a far fetched amount to be able to come up with, in about 20 mintues

This is what everyone keeps saying. We've run it on everyone with Gurley since his freshman year (save USCe in 2012). You're not just going to stop him.

Yes, but with such a relatively small amount it will be pretty easy to explain and pretty hard for the NCAA to go as far as it would need to prove something improper happened.

I do wonder how it works on the NCAA end. You can peruse Ebay and figure out how much a signature might be worth, if Gurley claims $5/signature and it was only for 80 items then the NCAA might balk. But then what? You have Jimbo over there saying this about Crablegs:

quote:

"He's never taken a dime for anything," Fisher told reporters Tuesday. "He's signed thousands of things. I mean, the guy sits for an hour and a half before a baseball game and signed and an hour and a half after a baseball game — I mean, there are thousands of things out there with his name on it.

"He is very accommodating to people."

How do you argue against that? In a way admitting you took any money might be worse then saying what Jimbo said.

It makes the opposing DC have to spend time on it and it adds another wrinkle to our offense that get's two of our best players on the field. It won't be necessary but it's there if we need it.
