Let's read it again.

quote:

That him learning to let the ball into the end zone when its inside the 10 yards mark or so.. If we get pin back at 5 or so we are going be having issues vs LSU.

What in the frick?

I'm not sure why this thread keeps happening. Pack would be in a RS year if Collins Moore and Carlos Davis don't get hurt. He is a true freshman. They make mistakes. He has been pretty sound catching the ball. Stop trying to tie him in with Korvic Neat over one mistake. He isn't Korvic Neat. Talk about saving seasons, he had a catch in the Bama game that saved our undefeated season as well.

The freshman excuse is such bull shite.

What does his Bama catch have to do with awful punt returns?

Why, though? Fielding punts is difficult if you're not used to it. Making the decision to let it roll or fair catch is a tough one. Judging hang time and where the coverage team is, all while making sure to keep your eye on the ball so you don't muff the punt...that's tough.

LSU doesn't have problems with it.

Because he is a starting punt returner on an sec team which means he is apparently suppose to be better than sophomores, juniors and seniors.

Idc if he catches it every single time. How many times is he going to fair catch it inside the 5? Or with nobody within 20 yards of him. Dude is single handedly costing us a ton of field position every game.

I blame the coaches more than Pack tbh. But I don't think you should get a pass just because you're a freshman.

I think the freshman excuse has at least a slight relevance. He's struggling with the mental part of the role. That's what comes with experience.

I think he's done a good job catching the ball recently. I hate that that's the standard for us, but can we really ask for more yet? Muffed punt turnovers are brutal.

If he's not mentally ready he shouldn't be out there. Again, not a valid excuse.

He's obviously the most mentally ready or Freeze would have someone else.

Ok so then he doesn't get to use the freshman excuse since he is supposedly better at this than everyone else.

Maybe everyone else just sucks at it or play primary positions that are too important to risk injury on pint returns.

I guess my point is, if you want to say he sucks at returning because he is a freshman then fine, that is fair. But it does not excuse him from criticism and backlash from fans. If he was a QB being forced to start that was playing poorly he would be getting crucified.

Meh. Not by me. That's undeserved. If Bo went down for the season I wouldn't hate on RB or DK. Same thing since Pack is only back there because Davis went down for the season.

I'm not sure what other way I can explain it to Realist. He is obviously the best option we have at this point or he wouldn't be in the game. He would be taking a RS if two players didn't get injured. When you play freshmen you realize they are going to make mistakes. That's not a excuse, it's reality.

If Bo went down last year and we had to play Switchblade or RB and they made stupid mistakes would you say the freshman excuse is stupid and they are costing us games? It would be dumb to do so because they obviously are still learning the game.

It's a rare freshman that can return punts at a high level.

Really missing Isaiah McKenzie this season.

Like I said if you want to say he is having problems bc he is a freshman then fine but it doesn't pardon him from criticism.
