Yeah, we all know that a 90 year old grandma in a wheelchair with Parkinson's could manage to find a way to throw for 20 yards too but how about some of the positives.

So many damn names making plays on the defensive side. Ray and Golden obviously. Brantley and Vincent were about as disruptive as I ever remember them being. Will miss Vincent next year, but Brantley, Augusta and Hatley are all just sophomores. Even heard Loud's name mentioned a couple of times. Maybe(hopefully), he's checked whatever problems he was having at the door and is putting in the work.

Scherer was stepping up and making tackles once again as well. Brothers and Ruise were active as well. Really like Dennis' play at CB as well. Webb a couple of INT's, though at least one was kind of handed to him. Just can't say enough about how I think the defense has stepped up, even in the loss to UGA they fought like hell.

Murphy is by far my favorite offensive player. He just has an ability to make guys miss without losing a step. Very rarely does a defender square him up for a hit. It's not just the returns or big plays, but he has a way of taking what looks like a 1 yard gain, make a guy or 2 miss and end up with 7 or 8.

I was impressed with Scherer's play. I only seen the second half, but he was everywhere. Solid hits and tackles.

I am so glad to see these corners being allowed to cram the line of scrimmage. Finally! I could see the confidence in their play too. Defense was lights out. I know Florida is not that great, but they do have excellent athletes. even in zone coverage and playing soft, they looked good.

D-line looked hungry. Smelled the blood in the water and kept coming at Florida.

It's almost as if the defense took the game on their shoulders and said, you can't win if we don't let you score. I saw some frustration on their faces when the offense continuously turned the ball over against UGA. It seemed like this week they simply accepted any challenge and said doesn't matter.

Getting ahead of myself, Beckner is almost a MUST. We lose a lot of numbers though we have solid guys like Augusta and Brantley coming back and unproven guys like Loud and Harris returning. After that, it's pretty much a complete unknown. Really really hope we get him.

ultra-ultra-ULTRA conservative, punt seems to be one of the best plays this offense can run.

The Gunslinger is not conservative, the style he has shown any success with is pretty much the exact opposite of conservative. Conservative does not work for him.

By contrast Pinkel is a very conservative coach, plays not to make mistakes, don't take risky chances, and hope to control the ball, protect the lead if you get one and generally play not to lose.

I pointed out before the season that Mauk does not fit Pinkels "style" of football and now we are seeing the result of Pinkel reining in Mauk's gunslinging and throwing down field with a fair degree of risk. Mauk seems to struggle seeing over the line to throw to the short middle, and needs better break away receivers to give him a clearly open target. There isn't much Mauk can do to make his receivers better at getting open or making himself taller to see the field better.

You would think the taller Printz might have a better chance at playing the style of football Pinkel so desires to be known for and just move the chains at a slow and steady pace. During Franklins career Pinkel seemed to think he was back under Don James watching Warren Moon, his blindness to his own inabilities keep him following the same path no matter how futile.

We can be assured the defense will not bail out too many more games for this team while we wait for Mauk to become the non-gunslinger, Pinkelball specialist. I guess since Mizzou nation is used to losing this won't be a process that causes many to pull their support.
