I remember being really impressed with Miss States defense in '10, and thinking that if Newton had ended up signing with State, they would have been serious contenders for the national title

Fast forward to this year, and State is a contender.

Question: You know more about the two teams than I do..would you say '10 with Newton would have been (hypothetically) better than this years squad?

Too early to say. Probably now because the sec is weaker now than in 2010.

Defense is even-ish but there are better offensive weapons on the edge now. That's a tough one.

We had 1st round talent on the D line then but we're deeper in every position now.

There isn't enough difference to close the gap and factor out Cam so that's tough to say, but since LSU/AL is rebuilding I like this year..

Too many variables. Would Cam have developed as well at MSU as he did at AU? I'm not sure. Cam also fit well in AU's (Gus's really) offensive system in 2010 very well. I'm not sure how well he would've fit in MSU's simply because I'm not well informed on how their overall team was at the time.

I'm asking which one is better

Not which one would have an easier road to the title

Cam would have developed in LSU's system

Well how would you define better? Stats? Record? Both would be affected by how difficult the road is.

Keep in mind that Cam wasn't exactly stellar early. He developed as the season progressed, albeit at a rapid rate.

Some State fans may disagree but this year's team is WAY more talented than their 2010 team. You put Newton on this team, nobody stays within 3 touchdowns of them.

But would it be better than 2010 with Cam is the question..

This team went from unranked to #1 faster than anyone in NCAA history so I'll roll with it ..

Fletcher Cox
K.J. Wright
Pernell McPhee
Johnthan Banks
Jamar Chaney
Darius Slay

stud defense back then but I like the team this year how it is. Don't know why Manny Diaz sucked at Texas so bad.

I don't really remember when, but a lot of the games, especially early, were close. Think of it kind of like the overall AU 2013 team. 2013 AU early didn't scare too many. Late 2013 AU? Nobody wanted a piece of that except FSU and they were loaded to the teeth with players in the NFL now

You weren't that scary late. It took a complete fluke to beat down trodden UGA. (Notice I don't consider Bama a fluke so relax)

Up by 20 going into the 4th. The only fluke was us allowing them back into the game.

No the fluke was a ball that got tipped twice on 4th and 17 that would have fell incomplete of the Uga guys didn't have arms. Look, the point was y'all weren't some war machine at the end of the year.

Guess you missed the Murray TD that never crossed the plane. The tip was miraculous, but it's not like the game was even close until the last few minutes.

who cares. The point was the post that " no one wanted a piece except FSU because they were basically an NFL team" is so stupid when you look at how freaking close Auburns last two regular season games were
