Texas A&M hype will balance when their schedule and tLandmass normalize

2014 Lamar, Rice, and SMU
2013 Rice, SHSU, and SMU
2012 SMU, SCSU, La Tech
2011 Hogs in JerryWorld
2010 Hogs in JerryWorld
2009 Hogs in JerryWorld
Once Texas A&M picks up some regular Big 5 schools in their non conference the early hype should normalize as the non conference games get better. Steers may not play them but what are the possibilities of a long term home and home with Texas Tech, TCU, or Baylor?
2015 Arizona State - Neutral
2016 UCLA - Home and Home
2017 UCLA - Home and Home
2013 Rice, SHSU, and SMU
2012 SMU, SCSU, La Tech

2010 Hogs in JerryWorld
2009 Hogs in JerryWorld

Well, they own the queers. Why would they?

actually our hype this year was because we played another conference team in the first game

Yeah and anybody with half an SEC brain knows without Shaw and Clowney it was a rebuilding year. Don't believe that non SEC hype as they usually say dumb stuff like Ohio State or Oregon will win every year too. Year after year they are proven wrong but nobody gets fired for picking names like that.
Last year folks in the SEC were rumbling that Ole Miss or State could make a run, but here we are halfway into the season before folks outside the SEC even begin to give it notice. Nobody trolls like the national media, just don't fall for it and everybody will be fine.

Exactly. Most aTm fans were fairly pessimistic about the season before the South Carolina game.
Trying to use hindsight to say that it wast a "good win" at the time is pretty darn disingenuous.

Baylor and A&M had a bad falling out when the Aggies left. I doubt they pick that up. But I also doubt any Big XII Texas school would agree to a game with Them right now.

They were ranked in the top ten at the time, which was why we got the hype. I'm not saying we are good because it's obvious we aren't just correcting you. In 2013 we were ranked preseason around where we finished the year before

After Aggie spanked Oklahoma, why would they? Aggie would spank anyone in the Big XII not named Baylor, and that game would be close.

Which is usually the safe bet at the national level but all wrong for the real world. It is like the broker who buys Microsoft because everybody else does and will not get fired for doing so. Pre season hype is usually no more than the annual running of the sheep, and sheep can be some damn dumb animals in numbers.

Which is a different problem entirely and has nothing to do specifically with A&M or the MS schools. No idea what this thread is about FYI

Basically cherry pick the PAC and get west coast exposure, probably just as smart. JerryWorld was a good long term gig with the Hogs and might have developed a west version of the 4 ACC vs SEC one. Too bad Kansas does not have better team and traveling fan base.
Who is decent in football, travels well, and is close enough to do the home and home long term? problem with the Rice and SMU types it no real gain if TAMU wins and no real national exposure interest. Nebraska in Reliant and rotate up there in a neutral B1G city would might be a possibility but not like lots of history and a common border.
The PAC games are limited in they would probably never become a long time rival game. If Gators bookend the east with the cross rival Florida State game it would be nice to anchor a similar bookend game in the west.

TU has pretty much pressured all Big 12 schools in Texas not to play us in anything but most importantly football. They ate telling recruits that if they go to A&M they will only play home games in Texas so their families will not be able to see them play much. A couple sports are giving in but no go on football. The SEC Network will even that out nicely. They can see all games now.

I guess if you define "disingenuous" as actually looking at records and strength of schedule.
Hindsight is the only way you can determine if early season wins were good or not.

True to some extent
Teams with returning upperclassmen should have an edge over teams laden with young players.
