I did this last week, and will continue to throughout the season. Here are my legitimate playoff contenders based on what I have seen through the first five weeks:

ACC: Florida State- FSU isn't the juggernaut they were last year, but the schedule doesn't have any really tough games left on it besides ND at home. Raise your hand if you actually think ND can win in Tallahassee at night with Gameday almost guaranteed to be there.

Big 12: Oklahoma- Still the best team I have seen. The league overall isn't great, but if they get by TCU on the road this week, their two toughest games left are Baylor and Oklahoma State, both at home. They have a lot of goodwill built up in the media from the Sugar Bowl.

Baylor- They can score on anyone, and it'll take a special defensive effort to slow them down. The only other way to beat them is to get a ridiculous day from a QB. Oklahoma is capable of providing both on the same day, which would result in Baylor getting blown out. Choklahoma is also capable of showing up at the wrong time, which would result in a Baylor win.

Big 10: Michigan State- If the Spartans run through the conference like I think they can, there will be a lot of support for a 12-1 MSU team who had the balls to play Oregon in Eugene. However....

Nebraska- The Cornhuskers have looked great and awful at times, but Ameer Abdullah is a game changer. Nebraska probably won't win at MSU this week, but if they're good enough to win in East Lansing, they're good enough to be 12-0 going into the B1GCG.

Pac 12: Oregon- at UCLA, vs Stanford. It's a two game season for the Ducks from here out. The guess here is they lose at least one of those, but win them both (and they would probably have to beat UCLA twice in this scenario) and they're in.

UCLA- See above, but replace Stanford with USC.

Stanford- Interesting team to keep an eye on. They did everything possible to lose to USC, and they did. However, a win at Notre Dame on Saturday gets them back in the top 10, and a win at Oregon gets them back in playoff contention. They're more than good enough to beat the Irish if they don't trip on their own feet, and they've beaten Oregon both of the last two seasons.

SEC: Alabama- Don't let Kiffin touch the defense. He's a great offensive coordinator who will really help Blake Sims reach his potential. If Alabama is scoring like they did on Florida, good luck beating them.

Auburn- Speaking of scoring, Auburn can score with anyone, as long as Marshall isn't forced to throw to win. They are capable of going 11-0 into the Iron Bowl, and a close loss could be good enough to get an at large spot.

Texas A&M- Arkansas exposed a few holes that someone else will blow open, but their offense might be good enough to make up for it.

Mississippi State- By far Mullen's best team, they are capable of beating anyone in the West and losing to anyone in the West by 20. They have the best QB in the conference, which helps.

Ole Miss- I don't think they beat Alabama this week, but if they keep it close and win out, they're in great shape. Unfortunately, a trip to Aggieland is next and two straight losses takes them out of contention.

Others: Notre Dame- Tough schedule. Stanford, at FSU, at Navy (don't laugh), at USC. Not an easy slate. If they go 11-1 and don't get blown out in the loss, they'll get a spot.

BYU- They need help, but they're probably going 12-0.
