If we don't beat a western team other than ole miss, we suck. We beat Auburn.....well it just means they just suck worse than us. We beat Lsu.....now they suck too. Can people just not handle admitting we are good? All I heard was hahaha 3-0 wait till you play Lsu. Now it's well ok whatever haha wait till ya'll have A&M. If we beat them I am sure they will all of a sudden be terrible AND we will need to just haha wait till we play Auburn....I mean good Lord. Oh I work with a lot of Lsu fans so I wore a purple tie with a gold tie clip to work Monday. Told them I was doing it out of respect for the dead.

It's just the way it works.

I got into an argument with some guy yesterday bitching to me about LSU and how they are having a down year since they lost to State and how the coaches sucked and how the talent that MState has on their team is lackluster in comparison to the talent that LSU has.

Read my fox lips: Stars don't matter, player development does. I saw a lot of our 2 and 3 stars dominate some of those 4 and 5 stars from LSU last Saturday and it will continue to happen this season.

The last, oh say, 20 national champions disagree.

Cause and effect. Win titles and it's presumed that you recruit at an elite level.

State has a long losing history to overcome. And this doesn't happen overnight. Our facilities and vision have us in the right direction and on pace to re-write our image, We just have to sustain and not dip back into same ole State of the past.

We happen to be in the hardest division maybe ever in the hardest conference. I like where we are. Don't let anyone take away from what we accomplish. State has come a long damn way,.

Why don't you let the season play out & enjoy it for what it is?

Yeah really, I'd rather keep getting disrespected and us having a chip on our shoulder.

I think splitting the next two games will do it.

I think LSU ends up with 8 or 9 wins on the season....they aren't awful.

Next step, hope A&M beats ArKansas in a very physical game;

Beat A&M regardless.

They aren't as bad as we made them look. If Jennings hits a couple fo those open receivers or Duval doesn't drop a couple of passes. The score might have been closer without us going into sleep mode. Their linebacker play is bad right nwo though.

I agree with everything you guys are saying (usually do) but it just frustrates me at how people talk. Even the so called "professional sports pundits". I don't understand everyone's deal with looking at the past and names. "you can't beat us because we have beat you for the last three years" How stupid is that? And on names.... certain teams are always pre-season top twenty five no matter what they've done and like with us for example we can't be good because we are Mississippi State. I get the history of losing thing but people focus on a team's name more than a team's performance.

Is it though? Go back through the rankings on each site and look at the top 5 since 2002(as far back as rivals goes) and its almost guaranteed that you'll contend for a conference title and if you're top 2 it almost guarantees playing for a national title.

I say that to say while I agree player development is of upmost importance; recruiting elite talent is the major ingredient for success.

No man not those. I'm referring to the 10-25 range ranks every year. You know, how usc, notre dame, texas, michigan, etc, etc are always up there but often not for any good reason. I can think of a lot of times State and ole miss were better than many teams along those ranks. We just didn't have the records to get in because of our hard schedules. Many years that we both finished 5th or 6th in the west we could have been 1-3 in other conferences.

Gotcha. I misunderstood the intent I guess. Honestly rankings are mostly about keeping the big brand names relevant and the Mississippi schools aren't that yet. Win a few more like LSU and people will have no choice but to respect you.

Yea you are 100 percent right. Still sometimes I feel it is intentional. I know State and ole miss aren't football powerhouses but we are members of the deadliest conference in the nation. So how the hell can "professional sports analyst" keep washington and washington state straight, but get MSU and Ole Miss confused when they are reporting. Such bs.

The reputation of our state in general and the lack of a large media market segment. I use Boise and BYU as examples of programs built on winning and brand awareness by playing anyone. Winning cures everything.
