What exactly was Florida's defensive strategy yesterday?

Were they selling out to stop the run because they didn't think Sims could pass? I noticed we couldn't really run the football until late in the third quarter.

Cooper will be blanketed and not catch a pass. Read it here.

They did a piss-poor job of it. As I said yesterday on the Scoreboard, VH3 should have been put on Cooper every damned play, and he wasn't. When he did cover Cooper, he actually performed fairly well. He got burned a couple times, but at least one of those was just impossible for him to stop.

If they had one it didn't translate. They missed assignments all over the place - was not impressed with their secondary at all - even given that Cooper is a beast they were just out of position too much. Their front 7 is good though and Bama's oline just isn't as good as in years past (probably youth) but that's part of why y'all are passing more this year as well.

VH left the game three times and eventually did not return.

Sell your soul to stop the run and the bubble screen. Kiffin only calls runs and bubble screens, so that should work to perfection.

The exact defense everyone on the Rant said would shutdown Blake Sims?

Take away the bubbles and make him throw long.

Went poorly.

this was it exactly, but what was so surprising was how many times they completely blew assignments

They did blow some assignments, but whether people want to admit it or not Kiffin schemed the fvck out of Boom. 2-3 of those 20+ yard plays were total schematic mismatches, not guys running to the wrong spots.

Blake also put those throws on the money.

I can't tell you how many times the stadium erupted half a second after the ball was snapped because someone in crimson was running by themselves wide open.

There was nobody to block on screens. Howard lined up wide with nobody on him. I think a safety was stuck covering 2 receivers on Cooper's long TD.

It was wild

Coop dropped his best pass of the day, too
