Auburn folks, writers, "trendy" national media folks have scoffed at Alabama and LSU for "struggling" in earlier games and talked about Auburn like they are some sort of unstoppable force that will run roughshod through people and see no struggles, unlike poor mediocre Alabama and LSU.

Auburn had their "struggle" and they won. They won away from home against a upper echelon (in their league) bowl team from a Power 5 conference. There is no reason to make excuses for it or explain why it was close away. It's a good win.

Moving on.

Agree, the same writers also had UGA as the best team in the nation because they beat Clemson...

This win helps our strength of schedule... It is over and I am happy to get out of there with a W.

Good post overall. It was a good win. But I'm not too sure about the above.

Meant to add IN THEIR CONFERENCE, not necessarily nationally.

Edited.

Not even the biggest Auburn homer said this. AU wasn't even picked to win the West because of our schedule. That is what the media has been saying. You have too many straw men in your head.

The same writers/prognosticators are fapping over MSU bulldog cowbell porn. But they won't even rank them in the top 25.

First, quite a few Auburn folks said this.

"Our offense won't see struggles"
"This is the greatest offense is Auburn history and maybe the SEC"
"Who can defend this offense?"
etc

But yes, you are right, the media has been the loudest purveyor of this thought.

This really only happened on this board.

Alabama's problem is that they're not what people are used to. They just don't seem as dominant or as infallible, which they probably aren't. They're still good, but that's a high bar.

Careful - are you sure you know what every auburn fan says? Were you here yesterday afternoon?

Trust me, I'm a gump. I know what I'm talking about on the subject of the fringe of a fanbase saying crazy shite.

If a media person or AU fan seriously said AU would cruise through the season without any struggles along the way, I would love to see it.

I know, crazy that rivals watch rivals games and comment on them on a message board about the SEC the night after 1 SEC game was played. AUBSESSION ENGAGED.

AU Defense played a good game overall. Some progress and I was glad to see Trovon Reed play well converted from WR.

AU Offense goes as marshall goes and Marshall had his worst game as a Tiger in my book. Once again too many dropped passes. Was surprised to see Quille drop TWO he should have had. Never did see Melvin Ray on the field.

Just shows that they are human and that Malzahn, the same as any other coach, is not Superman.
We're all in for a helluva battle in the only conference that should field 2 of the 4 teams in the playoffs.
