The top is shite compared to previous years, but the division as a whole is balls to the wall at every single tier.

The only year that I saw that rivaled this year was 2011. 2011 was a monster.

From a recruiting perspective, these results are not that surprising. Consider that the seven SEC West teams have signed more elite recruits over the last four seasons than any other entire conference.

This.

I feel like we will eat our own and I don't think anyone will be exempt.

2011 was amazing at the end of the season.

We'll know more soon, but all 7 teams are solid. It will be a war.

2011 was a little top heavy. Auburn, State, and Ole Miss all had subpar years.

A bit of an understatement, don't you think?

Not even close. It may appear a little bit deeper because Miss. St. and Ole Miss appear to be good for the moment. But the teams at the top are nowhere as good as years past.

The west was VERY top heavy that season. 2010 was better from top to bottom.

2010 was the best year for the West. Auburn, Alabama, LSU and Arkansas were all ranked in the top 10 at one point and i think three were in the top four

I'll buy this. Even Miss. St. finished the season ranked #15.

There will be some elite teams that finish 5-3 in league play this year. there will be solid good teams that finish 4-4. My point is that I wonder if the western division will still be viewed as one step below the nfl AFTER the season is complete and weve cannibalized one another.

Yeah I think 2010 SEC West was the best top to bottom.

Miss. State ranked 5th in the West with a 9-4 overall record.

The SEC West was pretty weak in 2009. LSU finished 2nd in the West, also with a 9-4 record.

I propose the SEC! SEC! SEC! chant be changed to SEC WEST! SEC WEST! SEC WEST!

Will we hear it tonight if Auburn wins?
