Mason did a great job controlling the tempo and protecting the ball. But he needs to work these next 2 weeks on timing and setting up the screen pass. Georgia has always used the screen pass well and picked up good yardage, but Mason tipped off the screen to Gurley and we lost 5 yards when we really needed to move the ball.
Defense adjusted well about midway through the 2nd quarter, and the 2nd half defense reminded me of the old Junkyard Dawgs.
I'll bet USCe will (try to) stuff the run and force Mason to pass, so he needs to be much better in 2 weeks.
Very excited about the great running backs, but worried about Marshall just not being well enough to play.

he did pretty well last year with the screens, but i agree he needs to sharpen up. Bobo's got to take some shots down-field, too. gonna have to keep the cocks honest.

I was hoping we would take a couple deep shots to Michel or McKenzie.

I wonder if you keep marshall away fromthe middle of the field and split him wide if he would fare better health wise. Lord knows he has the speed to stretch the field. I guess its just as easy to get hurt outside as inside tho.....nature of the beast.

Agree. As much as there was to love about today I'm concerned we don't seem to have a deep threat at present. One guy was open deep but Mason saw him a tad late. Still...many areas of concern were pretty special today.

I mean, he did take some shots downfield. Both of his passes were ducks, but luckily we were gifted a couple of pass interference calls. Mason just can't seem to throw more than five yards downfield accurately. It's scary.

We need to utilize the middle of the field better. Multiple times it was wide open and there was no easy outlet pass for simple yardage.

Aso, I counted one back shoulder fade to Bennett all game. Either Bobo doesn't trust Mason to make that throw or he had a serious brainfart in what made UGA's passing attack so productive under Murray (I'm thinking the former on a lot of issues).

I think any deep throws early in the season need to be to experienced receivers. Mason is still learning real game situations so don't have a newbie on the other end too.
