I would be fine bringing in Thorne, Edwards and Harris (or Miller)

Process Purchase, Thompson + Granger

BMatt has a free article on Dunans LINK. Includes his stats below

quote:

Dunans shot 41.0 percent from the floor, 22.0 percent (28-of-127) from 3-point range and 62.0 percent from the free throw line this past season, which is one of two areas Collins would like him improve upon has he transitions to the next level.

The most it's been said we are bringing in is 2 FWIW.

Either him or Thompson is next man out. I'd rather keep Alex in the scenario. He's been marginally better to this point & we know he is capable of hitting big shots if he has to play.

Hope not if he was shooting 20% from 3PT as a 2.

Given the dynamics of that team this year he was not a traditional 2. He contributed wherever needed based on game to game.

No. We're done at Guard.

The article Gene alluded to earlier has a no nonsense scouting report from Dunan's Juco HC
quote:

He had a great year. He was a stat sheet stuffer," Columbia State coach Brian Collins said. "There are going to be nights when you might not think he has a good game and he ends up having 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. There's going to be other nights where he might go for 25 or 30.

He had double-figure rebound games and he even had four or five blocks in a game this year. He's the type of player that can play all over the floor."

"He's a playmaker. He's a willing passer," Collins said. "He's going to be able to create so many things for himself and his teammates, and he's going to be a dynamic and athletic player to watch."

"He needs to continue to work on his shot, make sure he gets those percentages up, and he needs to work on his defense," Collins said. "He's a good off-side defender and does a good job of staying in passing lanes, but he needs to get better with on-ball defense. He has all the tools to do it."

(compared to former Tennessee SG Jordan McRae)"They have similar games," Collins said. "T.J. won't shoot it as good as Jordan shot it his senior year but you'll see what I'm talking about when he gets there.

"I think they want him to come in and be somebody that can create for himself and others and attack off the bounce. I think he can be kind of something they didn't have this year. KT Harrell was a dynamic scorer and Antoine Mason could get it going in bunches but neither of them were long and lean and can wiggle through people and be elusive like T.J. can."

"He was one of the key leaders on our team that made it to the national tournament in back-to-back years," Collins said. "He's a hard worker. He did what he was supposed to do.

"Right now, it's looking like he'll graduate in May and be ready to go at Auburn in the first session of summer school. He should be ready to go.
I'm optimistic TJ will improve his 3 point % given KT & Mason improved there's by 8 & 11 % respectively this season.

I won't rule us out due to Pearl but he is going to be a tough pull.

Also saw this floating around. Tremendous basketball player and athlete but 2 rape accusations at 2 different schools makes me hope we pass.

Anthony Collins @NextUpAntC Follow 6-5 NW Florida SG Brandon Austin looks like he would be a good fit for schools like NC State + Auburn. 10:43 AM - 20 Mar 2015

I wouldn't go that far. He is a top 3 JuCo recruit. He wasn't the top scorer but like the article above says he did a lot of other things that helped his team win. He also usually drew the other teams best defender fwiw.

It is what it is. He's no knock-down jump shooter but he can attack off the dribble and get in the paint. We need a guy like that after losing Mason and Harrel. He'll also help us in the rebounding department and gives us a notch up in athleticism over guys last year like Lang, Harrel, Mason ect..

Usually doesn't mean Jack at the juco level as best is probably marginally better.

True but I checked both of their season stats. LINK
The only major catagories Dunans was better was rebounding (specifically defensive), assists (nullified by turnover ratio), & blocks.

Cromer
20.1 PPG
51.8 FG% on 14 shot attempts per game
46.7 3FG% (Damn)
82.9 FT%
3.8 Rebs per game
1.6 Assists per game
1.2 Turnovers per game

Dunans
15.8 PPG
41% FG% on 14.6 shot attempts per game
22% 3GF%
62.0 FT%
6.9 Rebs per game (a lot for a 1 or 2)
3.9 Assists per game
3.0 turnovers per game

I'm glad we have Dunans & think he can do a lot for us. He made a quality impact on O at CSCG and made a major impact in defensive rebounding. Cromer had a much more efficient & better season offensively overall. Players w/ a clear better offensive season are generally thought to be the better player that season.

Unless Dunans improves his 3 point shot his best offensive impact to AU will be shooting inside the 3 & driving'n passing.

I am excited though about having 3 guys, 2 of which are taller, in the starting line up next season that can win many 1-on-1 battles. Canty, Dunans, & Danjel.

I could see Dunans playing a lot like Corey Brewer did at Florida. I know Brewer was more of a Forward, but they could have pretty similar play styles.

Could just be that this Cromer kid is better than JUCO competition and can hit an open shot against porous JUCO D though.

Nice thing about Dunans is he is not only proven he can ball against the JUCO ranks but he also is a ridiculous above the rim athlete. If you smooth his game and he isn't raw, he has legit potential.

What is the upside of this Cromer kid? I legit don't know.

Ugh, Lang's issue never has been athleticism. He isn't necessarily a jump out of the gym guy but he is quick and athletic on D and just needs to learn how to cut on O. He has some great drives towards the end of the year

He just is awkward as hell. Looks like a kid who grew 6 inches yesterday and hasn't figured out he is a half foot taller.

You'd be surprised at the talent at the upper level JuCo's. They aren't as well coached and usually not as bright(see Bowers) but there are more than 1 or 2 teams at that level that would have had a raw talent advantage over us last season. Columbia St has 4 perimeter players on their roster this season that will play D1 basketball.
