Louisville defensive coordinator Todd Grantham responded to a Sports Illustrated report claiming ‘significant friction’ between he and Bobby Petrino that went national Monday night.

“I have not seen the report, I heard about it,” Grantham told FootballScoop. “We’re in camp and so busy. Truthfully I laughed it off and went on to a meeting.”

The report, published Monday afternoon at SI.com, said Petrino ‘would have already gotten rid of Grantham if not for his (hefty contract).’ Grantham said the authors of the article didn’t seek comment from him before publishing their report.

“This was the first I heard of it,” Grantham said. “Nobody ever asked me for a comment or questioned me about anything like that. It was really a total shock to me that something like that would come out.”

Grantham also told FootballScoop that he and Petrino ‘work well together.’

“In camp you’re always going to have guys that are working and competing,” Grantham said. “We’ve got a really good staff that works hard to develop the players and works well together. This is one of the best camps I’ve ever been in from working situations to formations with different personnel groups to get the players ready for all the different things they’re going to see.”
