Looking to buy one from a friend. I just want a subcompact to have in the house that my wife can easily handle. I will also use it when I have a big cash deposit from my business.

The owner is a Sheriiff and has many guns so this one hasn't been used very much. He's asking $450 and comes with about 200 rounds of various types of ammo.

I know I can buy a new one for less than $500 but it does come with the ammo and a ankle holster.

Have any of you shot this gun? What's your opinion?

There are several other guns I'd buy before that one.

It brand new and I would want to test for reliability

Edit for clarification.

Glocks are frigging ugly blocks of cheese. I would throw all my guns into a flaming pool of diapers, before buying a Glock.

With that said, they are some of the absolute best semi-autos on the market. Highly reliable, easy to use, rugged and accurate. My only reservation on this one would be the .380 calibre. I'm not a fan.

I would much prefer a subcompact 9mm... That's what the Glock 42 should have been.

Outdoor board is the best place to get a good answer, until the colt lovers chime in.

I own a Glock 36 easily to conceal and has a lot of
stopping power.

Do NOT - NOT - buy any gun for your wife until she has fired it and is okay with it being her gun of choice.

ESPECIALLY if she's new to all of this. If she's already an aficionado - then have at it.

I had my wife try several guns that I though she would really enjoy. Wrong. She ended up with a Kel Tec P32. The only gun she doesn't mind shooting/practicing with. And she is now a very good shot with it.

So I have no problem with a Glock 42, but make sure your wife has no problem with it before you buy it (unless of course you are HOPING your wife doesn't like it, so you can get yourself a Glock 42 ).

I already have a Glock 27. The wife is not a fan, she shot it 3 times and won't pick it up again. She has shot a SW 380 and she felt much more comfortable shooting it. From this, I deduced that she may like the 42.

We will be going to the range to check it out this week.

Not sure the ole lady wants that kind of recoil. She's 115lbs soaking wet.

That's a hell of a deal for a G42. Do it

Bought my wife the G42 and she loves it. Very minimal recoil and she gets back on target quickly. She carried a Ruger LCP for a while, but was not very proficient with it due to trigger pull was terrible. My only worry with her and the .380 is the stopping power, but it's all she is willing to practice and shoot.
