A freshman linebacker will be playing fullback.

Hicks is still set to play H-back and Tight End.

I'm curious what this new offensive H-back wrinkle is going to look like.

The H-back is going to block. He will be put in motion a good bit prior to the snap to position him so he can lead block. Occasionally he will line up on the LOS like a traditional tight end. Essentially an H-back is a hybrid TE that lines up in the backfield.

It's not like they have invented something new. Gibbs was running this 30 years ago with the 'Skins.

The H-back gives you a lot of options. You can line him up as a TE, motion him easily to use as a lead blocker or flex receiver. It kind of replaces the FB. The true FB will still have a role though, especially in short yardage situation.

I like that they're training both Hicks and Blazevich for it. They're different types of players, so the defense not only has to account for the new look of UGA using an H-back, but also which player it is in that specific play and what his tendencies are. That's a lot to deal with pre-snap from just one position.

to go along with what has already been said, we only ran I-form like 30% of the last year anyways.

According to FSF, Hutson Mason is saying that Hall has been medically disqualified due to concussion. That sucks, 'cause the kid played with heart and a chip on his shoulder.

Will this make a big impact to the running game?

We have fullback sets in the playbook for short yardage situations, and losing your #1 fullback (quayvon) to position change and then losing you #2 (then #1) FB to concussion pretty much means you rip a few pages out of your playbook.

No it doesn't. Richt said Hicks could play fullback if need be. Which means, if the walk-ons and Dukes don't work out, Quayvon can play fullback. No need to rip out any pages. We won't use an H-back every down.

The FB can always shift to H-Back when the QB changes the play. No different than a RB shifting to a slot receiver position.
