Anyone here own one. I am in the market for a top dollar American guitar and have heard many good things about Guild but have never played one. I know Martins are great but would like to know if it is worth my time to try and locate a Guild.Any help would be great.

If you're looking for a top-of-the-line acoustic, you cannot go wrong with a Breedlove. You'll pay top dollar, but it's an awesome guitar.

I have played a Taylor and they re great guitars just have not found one that feels right in my hands yet. My dad owns a Taylor and loves it though I am just not sold on them for myself.

I love guilds. I own a Martin D 28 though.

I have gad 2 guilds. A big dreadnought acoustic and a real thin acoustic electric. I got both at pawn shops and eventually sold both to Guthrie. Both played very well. I like my D-28 better.

I have a black Guild acoustic spruce top with rounded back and my grandmother bought it for me as a graduation present in 1985. Good sounding guitar that was reasonably priced. It developed some shallow cracks in the top a few years ago (remember the humidifier) but I had it repaired and it still sounds good. The other acoustic (acoustic-electric) I have is an Ovation.
I have played Martins and Taylors which are good acoustic guitars as well. I do not know that much about the newer Guild models although I've read about them and they seem to get good reviews. Of course I'm always going to play any guitar before buying it--especially an acoustic.

Best acoustic i ever played was 89$ yammy with fricked up action.
Lots of those high end guitars sound great no matter who is playing, great engineering and timeless craftmanship.
But you aint foolin' nobody on a pawn shop yamaha. You good or you aint.

I still find D minor to be the saddest of all keys

I find people weep instantly when they hear it, and I don't know why...

FTW...i have one and it sounds like great sex...only guitar I have ever plugged directly into a PA and without making adjustments at the board, it sounded awesome right off the bat...
I recently played a Breedlove and it was very very nice too...Guild?...meh...get something that you know is gonna last and sound good with age...Martins, Taylors, and Gibsons are all go to for that...

To me they play similar to a Gibson. Have more of the big robust sound that you get from a Gibson. To me it would really depend on what you are wanting it for. If just to play around the house you will be fine. Also, the model you get will make a big difference. Like the other poster said, you can't go wrong with a Martin, Taylor or Gibson. I would put the Guild just below those. Good luck and happy pickin'...
