Every team has had that guy who was highly recruited out of high school that just didn't pan out. What position on your team do you think happens most often?

For Ole Miss

High School-QB/RB
Juco-Defensive Tackle

College coaches have told me that Offensive linemen are the toughest to access in HS.

You really have to project the kid 4 or 5 years in the future; whether his frame can handle all the additional muscle that will have to be added; and most importantly whether he has the attitude and determination to put in all that hard work to become proficient in blocking guys that are 6' 6' and can run a 4.5 forty.

I don't know, pilgrim. I think you're forgetting one other possibility:

High School-QB/RB

We've only had two HS QBs after Eli, each starting one season. This is our timeline of QB's.

Patridge - one year of JUCO/he counts as HS though
Miller - high school
Manning - high school
Spurlock - high school
Flatt - high school
Schaeffer - Transfer
Snead - Transfer
Masoli - Transfer
Stoudt - Transfer
Mackey - JUCO
Wallace - Transfer/JUCO

Running back, though, you're absolutely wrong:

McAllister
Avery
McCluster
Bolden
Mathers
Walton

That's two first rounders and a guy that barely missed the first round. Plus, Bolden went from undrafted to a guy that will be in the league for 10+ years.

I have no stats or anything to back this up, but I feel like a lot of slot receivers and small, fast guys get overrated coming out of high school. I dunno, it's just a hunch I have.

Gotta be defensive end.

15/27, 55.6%, of five-star defensive ends are "busts" at the collegiate level.

Scout HS five-star DEs from 2008 to 2011
2011 - 2014 true seniors
Jadeveon Clowney - Sakerlina
Aaron Lynch - Notre Dame then USF
Anthony Chickillo - Miami
Ishaq Williams - Notre Dame - moved to OLB; never more than 22 tackles in a season
Nathan Hughes - Oklahoma - moved to offensive tackle; transferred from OU
Ray Drew - Georgia - showed signs of improvement in 2013 with 6.0 sacks; lack of production in 2012 and 2011 makes him a bust
Lawrence Thomas - Michigan State - can't crack the depth chart and has not lived up to the hype he has coming out of HS
Jermauria Rasco - LSU - decent 2013 campaign but certainly has not lived up to the hype
Steve Miller - Ohio State - never more than 6.0 TFL in a single season
Stephon Tuitt - Notre Dame
2010 - 2014 RS seniors
Ronald Powell - Florida
Jackson Jeffcoat - Texas
Reggie Wilson - Texas - hard for him to see the field with Okafor and Jeffcoat in front of him; finished his career with 4.0 TFL
William Gholston - Michigan State
Curtis White - Oregon - moved to TE; battled injuries; left Oregon in 2012
T.J. Clemmings - Pitt - battled injuries; finished career with 2.0 TFL
Corey Lemonier - Auburn
Owamagbe Odighizuwa - UCLA - finished his career with 13.0 TFL; senior season is 2014; has battled injuries
2009
Donte Paige-Moss - North Carolina - Had a monster 2010; very pedestrian 2009 and 2011; plays in the AFL
Alex Okafor - Texas
Melvin Fellows - Ohio State - injuries
Nick Kasa - Colorado - moved to TE and left the team in 2012
Devon Kennard - Southern Cal
2008
Da'Quan Bowers - Clemson
R.J. Washington - Oklahoma - never more than 5.0 TFL in a single season
Shayne Hale - Pitt - finished 2012 with 9.5 TFL and his career with 10.0 TFL; undrafted and now coaches HS FB
Ethan Johnson - Notre Dame

Was coming here to post this. Evidence seems to back it up as well.

Because frick that guy. I will never associate him with anything Ole Miss. How Nutt signed him and not Bortles blows my mind.

Quarterbacks. So much scrutiny and very few opportunities in many cases. Easy to be considered a bust there.

Seems like AU has had a few highly ranked WR busts. I don't keep up with recruiting though.

Enrique Davis was the only big time RB I could remember and his career was awful.
