I missed the women's game tonight, but I looked at the box score. We shot over 50% from the field and from the 3 point range...We also about doubled their rebounds. We had less than half the fouls they had and we forced twice as many turnovers. Dayum, no wonder we mashed the taters.

Gamecocks win 69-45, solid performance especially on the defensive side of the ball.

How was the shot selection for the men? I feel that's what doomed us against Baylor.

I only got to watch the first 18 minutes but the shot selection was better.

But we also hit the 3s we took so it might have screwed my opinion

Reading the game summary we only shot 38%.

I wouldn't say we shot well, except that we shot well enough to win the game. Steele and Kacinas missed a lot of shots. We played good defense though. We had more steals and turnovers and were never really in foul trouble.

This, Thornwell was the only one really that had a great night on the scoring. And 10 of his points came within the first 4 minutes, so he was quiet for most of it. None of the other guards really stood out on that side of the ball. But the defense carried the way in this game without the doubt.

Has Steele just performed really well in practice or something? Are the coaches seeing something that I'm not? He is getting a lot more playing time and taking a lot more shots than last year.

I don't mean to knock the kid, he certainly plays hard, and I can't think of any particular time where he hurt us defensively but he was 1-7 tonight... making him 3-13 on the year.

I've been perplexed by Steele's playing time this year as well

Think he's the effort guy that will give us minutes when needed. I don't think he'd play nearly as much if Blanton didn't get hurt in preseason.

Tonight he mostly played when we were alrdy up by 15+ so I didn't have too huge an issue with it tonight.

And he's really the 5th guard so if one of them gets into foul trouble then he's the next guy up as a sub for when they need a breather or they aren't playing well, etc.

And I guess he's just flat out better than McKie & Theus Jr atm.

Gamecocks taking on Charlotte at 7PM tonight on ESPNU, will be a much better test tonight than the Cornell game last night.

Interesting stat I saw today:

Did you know? Freshman guard Marcus Stroman is currently leading SEC freshmen in assists per game, 4.0 per outing!

36-29 Gamecocks at the half...

Great 1st half by Thornwell scoring 18 pts, but he needs more help from the rest of the guys. Charlotte will make some halftime adjustments and try to shut down Sin....when he went cold at the end of the 1st half, USC went cold.

Tyrone went scoreless in the 1st half. Would be nice for him to pick up the load for Thornwell in the 2nd....also Stroman who was saddled with 2 fouls will return. Hopefully our offense becomes more balanced....

3 losses by a combined 11 points. How frustrating.
