Our Fortune 500 companies are pretty diversified. Retail, trucking, protein/animal product production, telecommunications, oil/gas production, and C-store/gas retail.

Many of Texas' O&G companies have the bulk of operations elsewhere but are located in TX for the chemical plants/port/pipelines but probably most important is the tax benefits. If I cared more I'd research into how many of the Fortune 500 companies in Texas were truly homegrown. Even H.L. Hunt was an Arkansas boy that moved his operations down there after finding success in Arkansas first.

Sounds like other states should stop having such crappy business taxes.

The state of Texas producing like 38% of the nations oil and more than all but one OPEC country is also a big reason

are any of those companies that are moving from Cali/NY on the fortune 500?

No?

then stay on topic....

Im proud to be a Texan and I of course know where it stands in the grand scheme of things. But i wish some Texans could learn a lil bit of humility.

Texas has benefitted from people moving here from other parts of the country/world and opening businesses. But ask any natural born Texan and they will tell you that the states success is solely dependant on Texans.

Aggies are the worst at this.

I completely agree. I've set up my payment processing holding company in a tax haven where I do not have to pay sales tax, corporate income tax, personal income tax, or capital gains.

My digital transactions aren't in our borders and they aren't tied to me personally thanks to the corporate protective shell and paperwork.

If I knew our country would do good things with our taxes I wouldn't have a problem paying them, but they don't so I try to pay them as little as I possibly can without breaking major laws.

I don't like all the things my tax dollars fund, but I wouldn't be able to have a clear conscience doing what you're doing. It seems incredibly shady.
