How in the world does freedom of speech cover contraceptives?

I bet that idiot can't name 5 Justices. The people on Facebook are hilarious. I didn't know that I knew so many legal scholars.

In all fairness, most of the population of this country has no idea what freedom of speech is to begin with.

People's outrage over this whole ordeal is just retarded.
It wasn't a big deal. A company shouldn't be forced to provide certain forms of healthcare coverage. The religious aspect of it is just a BS excuse. IMO, it all comes down to freedom of choice...and that the choice lies with the person who pays the bill.
Nothing is being taken from these women, they can purchase insurance that covers contraception. All this ruling does is keep a business from being forced to provide something against their will. THey shouldn't be forced to provide any health insurance at all, really. The idea that we as a society should demand things from other people, and use the Gov't as a way to force them, is disgusting.

Funny, but people flaunting their ignorance of the law annoys the frick out of me. The last day or so has been a national exercise in spouting off political talking points.

It's a combination of faux outrage from those who can't stand to see religion/conservatives defended by the courts and genuine outrage from those who simply do not understand what is going on and what this ruling means.
Make no mistake, the idea that the pill is bad because it causes abortions is laughably ignorant. It's due solely to a completely arbitrary and in many ways false definition of pregnancy put in place by religious entities. I'm not defending that line of thinking.
That being said, this case wasn't really about religion at all (legally speaking) and the actual ruling doesn't resemble at all the caricature being knocked down by feminists and liberals. The real story should be how on Earth could FOUR supreme court justices dissent on what, constitutionally speaking, is as open and shut as a case gets. Every argument against this ruling involves blatantly ignoring the rule of law in this country.

Me either. Like I said, I believe it's about a private business being able to choose what they provide to their employees. If you pay the bill, you choose the coverage. If the employee doesn't like it, work somewhere else or buy your own plan. People aren't entitled to a cadillac health plan from your employer and those who think they are, are selfish as frick.

It's truly amazing (and amusing) how stupid some people are.
My current favorites are facebookers who belive that not forcing a family business to pay for abortions for it's employees means that vaginal mutilations and stoning are legal.

It is amazing how stupid the American people have become.
I blame high school Social Studies teachers everywhere. They have one job: prepare students to be citizens. But, most of them are coaches who can't stop reading the Sports section long enough to actually teach anything. So, we end up with an ignorant populace who has no idea how our government works.
Ridiculous.

I'm a little surprised at how bad it's been. Like holy freaking shite. They're just as bad as the Tea Party in terms of having absolutely no idea what they're talking about

This, and they have no idea what freedom of religion means, as written into the constitution.

My favorite is "Freedom of religion doesn't mean freedom from religion".
I've still yet to even begin to comprehend how some make sense of that in their minds.

In a way I can. As it means that the state can not support, sponsor, or establish a specific religion. That may be the angle they are coming from. n But some people take it way too far and go tinfoil hat and zealot ideals.
