Was on SECRant and couldn't help but notice Cock Holliday had a pic of Doc Holliday in his sig.

Interesting little known fact...Doc Holliday was born in Griffin, Georgia and actually had a dentist office in a building in Griffin before moving out West for health reasons.

Thought it might be interesting to hear about other famous people with ties to Georgia.

One such is Deforest Kelley. (Bones of Star Trek fame) his father was a preacher and served as a pastor at a church, also in Griffin while he was a young boy.

(What can I say? It's off season. Sorry.)

He also contracted the Tuberculosis which drove him out west while studying dentistry on East Baltimore Ave in Baltimore, Md. He was sent there by his family, in part, to get him away from his cousin who he was in love with. So, to keep him from frickin his cousin, his family essentially caused his death.

Also, contrary to the movie Tombstone, there is no evidence to suggest that he and Johnny Ringold ever met. Though, Old West historians do say they were a matched pair, both educated and both fearless.

But it IS fact that Doc said, "I'm your huckleberry."

I'm putting it in Wikipedia right now.

Did that turn up any historical evidence or just loop you back to the movie quote?

Johnny Mize - Baseball Hall of Famer, is from Demorest GA

Keith Jackson, the voice of college football for most of my life, is from Americus, or somewhere close by there, I believe.

I lived in Griffin for a bit....well, for quite awhile on several different occasions. My wife worked at a pharmacy that was a part of the building where his office was.
