Why do Aggies always put their graduation year when describing themselves?

Aggies always love to use their graduation year in all forms of communication. I know Aggies are proud of their schhol and all but I'm proud of the fact I graduated from LSU and I don't say my name followed by the class of 2006
I see it in Emails i've gotten from Aggies
i.e. Peggy Sue Fighting Texas Aggies Class of 91
or
Bob Smith 78
Probably been posted before but o well. Just wondering when I saw and Aggie's twitter and it had 17 after his name.

They do a lot of weird and unnecessary shite. It's just who they are.

I had a coworker that worked for the company I worked for and in her signature line on her emails had Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 1990.

Well who wants to brag about graduating from LSU?

quote:No but it is more prevalent with Aggies. That and I live in Houston so I see more Aggies.

I think it just goes along with the camaraderie that they have as a close group of people. Some call it cultish, but Aggies are very close and there is a sense of pride that no other school has when they meet someone that also graduated from the university. It's pretty interesting when one Aggie notices the class ring on the other and immediately introduce themselves and the year they graduated. Not exactly sure why they do it, but it very possibly could be informative to others that had another family member who went to A&M that graduated in the same year as them.

Hmm... I've never noticed while admittedly in the hinterlands here. I suspect you already answered your own question: you live in Houston, where there are a lot of Aggies. Ergo..., and all that.
The last time I mentioned my class year was on the riverboat tour in S.A. on vacation, wearing an ATM shirt. A youngish fellow sitting with another youngish fellow across from me asked "Did you go to A&M, or do you just like the shirt?"
"Oh, I went. Class of '79"
"Pleasure to meet you. We're '01"
Looks at brother, then back at me, then
"We were born in '79"
So then I tossed both of them off the boat into the river, and all was right with the world.
