I already realize this scenario is unlikely, but it is certainly possible (I checked schedules for issues).

After all games are complete, the standings are as follows:

SEC: LSU (1 loss - Aub (Won SECW on tiebreaker)), Bama (1 loss – LSU), SCe (1 loss – LSU (CC game)), Georgia (1 loss SCe), all 4 are ranked in the top 5 in all polls (or whatever they do nowadays). All wins were convincing (except vs these 4 SEC teams), losses were by 7 or less points.

All other major conference champions: Stanford (2 losses - USCw, random middle conf team on the road), Baylor (1 loss - OK), Ohio St.(1 loss Mich by 28), FSU(2 losses - last 2 games their QB stole more crablegs got 2 game suspension but would be available for post season) Notre Dame not a factor (3 losses). No other team has a W/L record/resume to be considered for the 4 team playoff.

Who makes it in? How do the brackets line up? Discuss.

Edited from original scenario to make it a bit more likely.

Of those SEC teams, LSU and UGA would be the 2 highest.

LSU is obvious. It certainly wouldn't be SC due to timing, so that leaves bama and georgia. The reason I say UGA over bama is because UGA/SC is in mid-september, so after running the rest of the table they'd be up pretty high. Meanwhile, bama plays LSU in november. Their loss would surely drop them behind UGA.

That would be the rare year the SEC got 2 teams in. Prolly as the 1 and 4 seed.

LSU is now the 3rd best team in the SEC West FWIW. You guys don't have a good enough quarterback to have less than at least two losses this year.

Serious question? When's the last time that happened?

Scenario doesn't necessarily have to be this year. Also, is there a 2 team limit in the new format?

Something else I just thought of is that it would be virtually impossible for 4 teams in teh same league to be ranked in the top 5 after conference championship saturday.

Also, despite having 2 losses, some of those other teams would jump one or all of bama/sc/uga because they won their conference.

Prior to an SECCG, LSU and SC would be undefeated, the loser would not drop out of top 5. Bama is certainly not going to drop out of top 5 with only a late season loss to LSU especially an undefeated LSU. Georgia with 1 loss would likely be top 5, in a year where the other major players have 2 losses.

Again I realize this isn't likely, but if it happened I wonder how many SEC teams make it to the playoffs. It is probably only a little more far fetched than the National Champ having 2 losses.

SEC would put Bama, LSU and Georgia in the playoff in that scenario.

CCG loss would drop SC

Although the scenario doesn't have to be this year, in this year's schedule, Auburn plays both Georgia and SCe, so I put Bama instead of Auburn so the schedule would allow for it.

2 if I had to guess.

Remember we're not dealing with a BCS formula anymore, we're talking about human beings with biases and pre-conceived notions. It's 100% up to them. I highly doubt the committee would go for having 3 SEC teams in a 4 team playoff. I guarantee you thier mindset that they come forward publicly with would be "we decided to reward teams that won their conference blah blah blah".

You(we) have to train our brains to think differently now. Yo uare going by polls and the committee will not do that.

LSU and USCe would go bec LSU is undefeated and USCe and UGA have the same records with USCe winning the division and beating UGA head to head. The committee will see that.
