How quick will South Carolina fall on their face when Spurrier leaves

Spurrier built their program from nothingness and I would say that they could sustain 2nd in the east for a while if they were the only school in the state like lsu, but they will have to compete with Clemson and that program is better than USC in everything, but coaching currently. Would they fall as quickly as Arkansas did without Petrino or Auburn without Cam?

they not exactly killing it now

depends on who they hire. If they hire Steve Spurrier Jr., they'll fall off quickly

They will have the chance to land a good coach after Spurrier and have shown the potential they have as a program. If they get the hire right they will continue to have success

Spurrier has built them into a program that will have the ability to attract solid coaching talent after he leaves.

The cocks have peaked with Spurrier. Spurrier and Saban are in the same tier of coaching so if they can't win championships with him then they won't win with anyone.

Well, all of their recruits will decommit and commit to Clemson. They will try to go after Kirby Smart and Chavis. They won't get either one and have to settle for Lane Kiffin. All of their recruits will then recommit, but they will go winless in the SEC two years in a row.

Could be the second season after he's gone if they fudge the hire. Could take anywhere from 5-10 yrs before another losing season if they don't.

Not this thread again.....

The program is good enough now that a good coach could sustain success there. They have a loyal fan base, decent money, and above average facilities.
I would watch out for Craig Bohl, he's the new coach at Wyoming that came from North Dakota State. If he does well there he will be a hot name around the country in a few years.

South Carolina surprisingly has a strong talent pool from the number of kids who make the league. If they can start owning Clemson in recruiting like they have on the field they should be fine

We'll see how good SCAR is without Connor Shaw and go from their. That kid was a gamer.

USC will be in a great position to hire a solid replacement as long as they don't do something stupid like promote an assistant. If Arkansas can lure away someone like BB, USC can certainly do the same.

We won't. BB, are you serious? I'd lead the fricking revolt.
We're hiring from within when the time comes.
This thread does suck big donkey balls though.

Dang, where is all this LSU hate coming from tonight?
We've hired two straight HoF coaches and though it's taken a while, we're slowly becoming an SEC power. We're in a much better place to hire another great coach once Spurrier retires.
FWIW, Spurrier wants to stay in Columbia after he retires and has said he will help with the transition.

ahhh bert.
but seriously, in reference to OP, SC is a destination job right now. 3 straight top 10 finishes, bowl victories, and 11 win seasons? Plus who's to say we won't get a 4th this year? Once SOS is gone (won't be for a while though), we'll get a nice beast of a coach to take our program to the top I hope. scrooster seems to think it'll be Bubba, but I wouldn't be totally pissed about an outside hire. The only thing about that is, keeping the staff intact that we already have, which is more than adequate. Bubba may be the answer, may not, idk, but I sure hope whoever is next understands that we are all about winning ball games now, and that's how it should stay.

quote:I gotta ask. How are you so confident that we hire Spurrier Jr.? 4 years is a long ways a way, anything can happen. No reason to get so defensive about thinking we could hire a new up and comer or something.
