How are you so confident that we hire Spurrier Jr.? 4 years is a long ways a way, anything can happen.

This is my whole thought process.

I'm just kidding around. I think USC will be fine. They pay Spurrier a ton of money and are in the best conference in college football. They will find a good replacement.

Id expect USC to finish 3rd this year in the East. Decline is already starting.

SCe will definitely fall a bit. You don't just replace a guy like Spurrier with ease.

Well, Florida did pretty well when they got Meyer. Douche or not, he was a good coach.

Yeah, replaced Spurrier with Zook though. Meyer is a great HC though. Not sure if a great HC is going to look at SCe. Even an up and comer like Meyer was. Guess we will find out.

Spurrier and Saban are in the same tier of coaching so if they can't win championships with him then they won't win with anyone.

Seriously it is all about his replacement if they make a good hire they will continue to cruise if not they will take a step back just like any program, Mike Shula anyone or Curley Hallman. I think they are in a better shape then Mizzou, which sucks for me:( frick our AD.

Yeah I don't agree with this either. USCe has a chance to win the SECe every year and is a good destination for recruiting. It's not Florida as far as popularity, but I think they would get a great HC.

I view the 'cocks like this.

They've been blue-balled by relevancy their entire existence and have basically built up a massive thirst because they see teams around the SEC banging championships.

Spurrier is that cool friend with connections that teaches his bud how to get some. In this short time in SCAR's history, they are at the 6 second orgasmic climax that will soon be over after all is said and done.

If they can start owning Clemson in recruiting like they have on the field they should be fine

We've been winning the in-state recruiting battle since 09. While we haven't always gone head to head with Clemson for the top talent, we've been getting the best of the best in our state since 09. Stephon Gilmore, Alshon Jeffery, Marcus Lattimore, Jadeveon Clowney etc.

The last player I really wanted that we lost to Clemson was Latek Townsend and that was a couple years ago.

For the class of 2015 we've already got the top player in SC committed making it 6 of the last 7 years we've gotten the best player in the state.

And before any dawgs come in here and mention that doofus QB that won Mr. Football this past year, Shaq Davidson would have won it had he not been hurt, and was still ranked as the best prospect in the state.

I think they'll decline, but they pretty much have 2 options after Spurrier IMO, with choice #1 being far more likely:

1) This is it. They are in the pinnacle of SC football history on the back of one of the 5 or 6 greatest SEC coaches of all time. Nowhere to go but down from here. Not that they'll start going 0-21 again, but they will drop off to "normal" SC levels. Maybe 7-5ish on the reg. Let's be honest, most recruits likely go to SC because of spurrier. It also helped that 2 of the best players in school history (that both played in the last 5 years) were from SC.

2)The foundation is laid, similar (not remotely on teh same level, but similar) to what spurrier did at UF. He's got them winning, got people pumped about SC, and the ball can keep rolling downhill. They won't be 11 wins a year good, but 9-10 wins can be expected. All the next guy has to do is just steer the ship.

Personally I think #1 is most likely, as we've seen that situation a good bit across cfb.

I think it depends on the hire honestly. Could there be some regression? of course! new system/staff etc..

I mean we could stay where we are at now.. contending for the east, trying to win the SEC/make the playoffs etc...
but I think we want to move ahead of all that instead of being content with it and just throwing out what we've done in the past, so I don't think we will hire Richt.

Richt accomplished more in his first 5 years as a head coach than SC has accomplished in its entire history.
