Wow. 4th most visited? More visited than Las Vegas, Miami, and Los Angeles?
Surely they're counting drive throughs.

I have to agree. When you consider Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York etc.
My guess is they are counting passengers flying through the airport, too.

It has to be counting connecting flights. I'd image LA, NY, Chicago, Miami, Orlando, San Fran, Boston, Philly all have more tourists.

He went on to say that Atlanta is a very attractive city for tourists.
I guess there's high demand to see a ferris wheel?

Lot more historical stuff there than atlanta. Plus easy to get to when overseas tourists come to NYC. Add Nola to the list too. Atlantas a decent place to live but who vacations there?

Visited includes coventions.
I'm not sure if they are as bold as to include connecting flights (you got a link?). But I'm positive that this is not a list of tourist cities. It is a combination of tourism and conventions most likely.

If it wasn't the closest major city to me, I would have no desire to go to Atlanta.

3/4 of the residents are transplants and their families come visit them alot, and they do touristy things.
I believe the number.

"Atlanta - the forth most visited city in the country - by the families of the citizens who are all from up north"

Pretty much.
Two guys I work with in ATL, one is from Illinois, the other from Iowa. I swear every other weekend one of them has some family/friends in town, they go to all the tourist shite at Centennial, Stone Mountain, etc.
As also mentioned, tons and tons of conventions in ATL.
Also you get sporting events like Chick Fil A kickoff classic, SEC CG, occassional All Star game, occassional Final Four, etc.
Furthermore, you get a ton of concerts from the likes of Bruce Springsteen and big names that draw in middle-aged crowds from Bama, Tenn, NC, SC, they make a weekend of it in town, if Springsteen decides not to play a date in Columbia or Charlotte. I pick up Charlotte radio occassionally out here, and often they are doing promotions and ticket giveaway crap for stuff that is happening in Atlanta.
Lots of corporate headquarters around here too, lots of business travelers.
It's also a gateway to Charleston, Savannah, and Okefenokee Swamp (popular with Asians). Many of those annual visitors make their way through ATL and they will spend a day or two in ATL around airport day.

There should be a requirement that all tourists attend an orientation meeting at the Cyclorama. Changing hearts and minds...

Lot's of day trippers make the journey...you got 75,85 and 20 intersecting here and many folks will get on road and make a somewhat short drive and go back home the same day...still not sure if its #4 in the country

When I google it, all that comes up is this topic.
What is your source for Kasim saying that?

LOL
I don't know about changing hearts and minds. But I want to get my 10 year old out there.
I need to do a family day downtown. I can't wait for the college football HOF, I've never done world of coke, and a Fall game at Turner Field is always a good outing (unfortunately, my wife will probably force us to stop by The Varsity as well).

Delta can get you here from anywhere in the country and it's easy to get into the city with MARTA. This makes atl great for entertainment events, conventions, training, etc.
