For car racing fans this weekend is one of the best considering the variety of races you can watch. They include:

Formula 1, Gran Prix of Monaco (Monaco) F1Site 5/25 @ 6:30 AM CST, NBC

Indy 500 (Indianapolis) Starting Grid 5/25 @ 11 AM CST, ABC

NASCAR Sprint Cup Coca-Cola 600 (Charlotte) Starting Grid 5/25 @ 5 PM CST, Fox Sports

Enjoy the weekend.

I do enjoy Indy the most although I really like the Monaco race too since it takes place in such a unique and beautiful setting with the street race course being so narrow.

Labor Day Weekend is better, US Nationals, longest-running Labor Day motorsports event in the United States.

A good one too but for me I never got into drag racing that much. I did go to some a few years back at the State Fairgrounds but I'm sure it wasn't the same type of drag racing--just more of the local folks there and no super high powered cars like you have on the national scene.

Fair grounds was a joke, that was no where close to NHRA or Outlaw Street Car racing that takes place all over the country.

Rod Fuller is a UofA alum, he raced top fuel for a few seasons before his car owner sold the operation and he kinda got screwed out of his sponsorship deal by the guy who bought it and lost his ride. He finished 2nd in the points a few seasons ago.

The clutch management system that is found in the fuel cars was invented, designed, and developed in Arkansas by John Medlen when he worked out of his shop in Russellville, AR.

Several Arkansans have been world champions in various organizations and classes over the years, some of the fastest cars in the country in some classes are from Arkansas currently.

What makes the US Nationals and NHRA events unique is the "average" guy can build a car and run at the same events on the same track during the same event as the Pros.

In NASCAR you can not obtain a rulebook from them unless you can afford to buy a car number.

Indycar/FI/etc. is cubic money.

There are several companies in Arkansas that do work for NASCAR and Indy teams, FWIW.

I do watch a few NASCAR races a year, usually Daytona, Bristol and Darlington, the mile and half cookie cutter tracks put me to sleep fast.

I use to follow SCCA Trans Am racing, but it is too much "work" to do so anymore.

I get into some of the dirt track racing, too. I'll go out to the local Sprint Car races a few times a year and for the past several years now have gone to the Topless 100 Late Model race in Locust Grove/Batesville (where it usually rains the race out until the following day).

I've also watched a few races on DIRTVision which is pretty neat. LINK

Sprint Cars are fun to watch, I've gotten to hot lap a couple, its fun, just not my thing.

Dirt Track racing is way to much work during the week from other people tearing up your shite, if you want a car that looks good.

Monaco is an awful race to watch, I hate it.

World superbike is in donington as well.

If you really want to go nutts, Isle of the Man is ongoing. People die just about every year there. LINK

I like the Monaco race better than the Indy 500. Love World Superbike.

Saw a Moto GP race in Indy a few years back and was blown away by the size of the place. Had a great time in Indianapolis, downtown was a huge party.

I love Memorial Day weekend. Go NASCAR. Indy is ok to watch on this one race a year, but even it has a lot to do to catch up to NASCAR.

Formula 1 has cool settings, but the racing is weird.

Meh, you can't pass. I get the history of Monaco, but the cars are too flimsy these days. The only way to overtake is to do it in the pits, which is dumb IMO.

I'll be at Indy MotoGP this year.

It is really the history and setting that makes the Monaco race attractive. Being a street circuit you just can't have the level of pure racing that you get on a road course circuit or an oval so I understand, from a pure racing perspective, why it might not be as enjoyable to watch (or race on) as many of the other tracks. Monaco was typical Monaco: Nico Rosberg wired the field to win. LINK. There's a fued with his Mercedes teammate regarding being unable to pass during the race.

The Indy 500 was relatively uneventful early on but the last few laps were exciting as was the finish with Ryan Hunter-Reay winning. LINK. NASCAR regular Kurt Busch ran 6th as an Indycar rookie then flew to Charlotte after the race to run in the Sprint Cup race.

Jimmie Johnson dominated the NASCAR Sprint Cup race in Charlotte to take the win. LINK

Indy outdid NASCAR this year. Had NASCAR thrown one of their usual conspicuous cautions in the last 5 laps it would have been one heck of a finish between Jimmy and Harvick. But with their boy out to so much of a comfortable lead that wasn't happening.

ummm horseshite. F1 is heads and shoulders above the rest.

I only clicked on the thread now because I figured it would have been Indy/NASCAR only and F1 is the most important race series in the world simply due to all of the technological advances the series has developed that have found their way into production vehicles.

And any organization that has to restrict competition (restrictor plates) isn't operating in good faith of the sport. NASCAR is no longer a racing event it's an entertainment event to distract the working class.

Baja racing and F1 interest me much greater than Indy/Cart/Stock/NASCAR/Drag though I used to really like Top Fuel.
