Text this morning says:

It's not Marshall. It's not Howland. It's not Anderson.

It's Jay Wright.

Discuss.

I added all the spaces. Those weren't in the text.

I would not be against the hire, he has final four experience. I also wouldn't be surprised by it.

I could live with that. Alden should work for the CIA after his time at Mizzou.

I think this has just gone on for too long. I'm finding myself at a point where I just don't care anymore. Wright wouldn't be horrible but really doesn't do much for me, mainly because I know so little about him. Seems to make the tourney most years but no seasons that make you say he's the man.

Wow. Out of left field, but I could live with that!

If true...Alden gets the 007 award for best clandestine search management!

Yeah. It's not a bad hire.

It makes sense that he has a job currently. It makes basketball sense in that he seems to be a pretty good coach. It makes conference sense in that the stability afforded him by the SEC would be huge for him.

Saw someone tweeted a radio show and told them it was Jim Tressel, so that's exciting.

Interesting enough, that was RC's prediction in the prediction thread.

And was Jay Wright one of the golfers at the airport?

That would be fricking hilarious.

Was Jay Wright at the AAU tournament in that horrible state over there :points west:?

That would explain the rest of what I got in rumors.

And if not, we'll add all the info I got to the false info disseminated by the AD.

Seriously, if it's Jay Wright, gold star for the cloak and dagger routine.

If it is GM it is even more impressive because it was in the backyard and everyone still missed on it.

So Wright has finished above .500 in conference play 6 times in 12 years at Villanova? I guess he gets bonus points because it's the Big East though. Harder to reach .500.

I'm kind of hoping this is another head fake from the AD on this info.

I'd rather have Howland or Marshall. But it's certainly not Anderson bad.

And btw, thank god this board has the collective sense not to pretend he's a great hire.

Thought Jay Wright already confirmed he wasn't interested and pretty much dismissed.

Also leaving Nova for Mizzou wouldn't make a ton of sense... Or Any...

Villanova is a way better job than Mizzou, I don't buy it.

It was a better job two years ago. Then the Big East blew up and there's no stability in the conference. There's a reason Buzz Williams left Marquette for Virginia Tech. It's in the ACC and the ACC is stable.

Villanova is in a dying conference with little stability though. With enough money on the table I could see it. And it would be an Alden-esque type of hire.
