Was posted by a more tenured poster on another board. Who knows if he actually has any information, but people think he is more credible than not I guess.

COACHING SEARCH UPDATE Reply

Here's a recap of what we know so far:

I emailed Gabe about an hour ago about this scenario...

I know for a Fact that Three options are on the table (at this time) and it will play out in 48 hrs.
One - Big
Two - Kim (For A Fact, with certain assistants staying on board with a substantial raise)
Three - someone who's not been mention on the board that I'm aware of! (been out of town and away from the board, so I haven't gone back to research)

How I know this? The AD has reached out about upping the donation to the B-Ball program to a good friends father who currently donates a substantial amount....

So take it for what its worth!

I can not... As I had stated this to Gabe in my email... That being said, I'm reading between the lines and I think you could figure out the first!
I've only spoke to my friend and he said his dad was called and had a pow-wow with Mike!
His dad said, it's a make or break with that particular coach based on the collective agreement to provide the resources and conditions they could put together!
He and I both think it's GM! Again it's up to the donors to come up with the additional coin! (Major Coin)

For the 3rd his dad did not say nor did he! (I don't believe he knew and/or his dad did not know or tell.

I will add that he told me his dad would seriously consider the added donation! (For Whom?)
That being said, he also likes the idea of Kim with Fuller! (went to school with Kim)
No idea if Kim is the 3rd or 2nd choice...

Sorry for being so no committal, but I thought I'd share what I know!

Ok so I can confirm those calls as well as I was told the same thing by a couple of bIg boosters

MA can propose about 2.5 MM right now but to get the big hire it is going to take 3.2MM and MA needs to secure assurances from people that that difference can be covered by the boosters.

The two I was talking to said the MA was using Anderson as leverage to get more money. Saying if the program didnt secure the funding he would hire KA.

The other things being asked for is more money for coaches, increases recruiting budget, some small upgrades in facilities. One of these guys said they asked if Fuller was staying. MA said he is pushing for it but one other condition was that GM be allowed to run his program his way without having to go to MA for player approvals and other small things.

And Howland is not seeking a ton of money and
MA has that amount basically approves already. But his name is mot being thrown out there right now.

No clue who the third is but the name is coming from a consultant

Sorry for the late post but was out with these guys watching the Blues game

I think the 3.2 will be distributed among the staff.

Gabe says he doesn't believe Marshall will be the next coach though and thinks Anderson is the front runner.

The option 3, being thrown out on TB, is GT's Brian Gregory. He did well at Dayton, but not much at Tech.

I have no problem with Kim Anderson. Native son who has done well at a lower level.

Main thing with this though is while he may be the best X's and O's guy available (debatable obviously) how would he do recruiting?

Older white male coming from a D2 program (so it's not as if he could bring any of his already committed recruits for next season to Missouri) that hasn't recruited D1 in over 10 years. Does he have the ties? Does he have the ability to coax kids here? It's a different sales pitch from we're the best of the second best, to come to Missouri.

Recruiting should be the least of our priorities. It has been Alden's priority with other hires and it didn't work. Get a good coach. Win some games. I'd prefer we didn't have a fancy recruiter and bring in kids who will be here for 4 years. Works well for non blue bloods like Wisconsin. We need to start thinking outside the box.

It's not an either or type of thing. It can be balanced without going to such an extreme either way. Recruiting for Anderson seems like it could be crippled by the reasons I posted above.

Age should not be a difference. A younger coach who does well might leave in a few years for a bigger paycheck.

We had good players the last 5 years and that got us one and done in the NCAA's.

He could get the caliber of player that Wichita State has and coach these players into a winning team.

Only recruiting top50 players would be crippled with Anderson. There are lots of kids who can play at this level with the right coach.

Really? Because Haith whom everyone would have to admit would be seen as a better recruiter than Anderson is leaving the cupboard bare. Anderson has obvious downfalls against him, but hey, don't worry about it. It will all work out.

And recruiting isn't going to make Mizzou a winner. A good coach will make Mizzou a winner.

Probably playing the odds. Alden would be swallowing a lot of pride to hire a guy he has passed on for 15 years.
