You have Arkansas football fans...You have Mississippi State baseball fans....then you have Tennessee basketball fans....MENS basketball

Tennessee Program Accomplishments
National Titles: 0
Final Fours: 0
Elite Eight: 1(2010)
Sweet Sixteen: 7(2014)
Conference Title: 9(2008)
Conference Tourney Title: 4(1979)

I guess I don't see the "self worth" UTk fans hold their program up to.

Martin took the program to within one point, of going the furthest it had gone in the NCAAt. He won games at Tennessee.

Why the hatred?

Bruce Pearl came here, took us to 6 straight tourneys and an Elite 8, and made us believe that we were a basketball school. We have the facilities, the brand, and a little bit of the history to support that. Zo just suffered from BP raising the bar

Yep. Very similar to Petrino at Arkansas. When a coach does unprecedented things, expectations are increased.

Here is your answer. He wasn't Bruce Pearl.

Before today, I would have thought this was crazy. Not that I agree on why they are delusional, but to be happy Martin left is insane.

At least Arkansas football has a claimed national title and 13 conference titles to fall back on.

Tennessee basketball prior to 2000, was quite frankly a big heaping pile of dog shite.

Which is why the fans are more delusional that State baseball and Arkansas football.

Tennessee basketball has absolutely no history of winning, outside a few seasons.

Who is trolling? You?

Tennessee basketball has no history, at least on the men's side. The fact your brethren are happy about losing a sweet sixteen coach is proof enough.

They've had recent success. It doesn't surprise me that they want more. I think they're one of the better basketball teams in the SEC so I don't expect them to do less than shoot for the stars.

Thank you. They act like just cause we don't have a great basketball tradition means we should just stop trying. UF didn't do shite in football before the 90s, but does that make their fanbase happy with a 4-8 season? No

How would you define success?

Tennessee all time is probably 7th-9th in terms of program prestige in the league.

Kentucky, Florida, and Arkansas all have national titles and multiple national championship games.

Kentucky, Florida, Arkansas, LSU all have multiple Final four appearances.

Mississippi State and Georgia all have more Final fours

Alabama has more conference titles and conference tourney titles.

Missouri, the new program has more NCAAt appearances, more Elite Eights.

Auburn has as many Elite Eight appearances as Tennessee?

Holy shite, did not know that!

After constantly being preached at by the TennTards, I had always been under the impression that they were a past basketball powerhouse.

So the Golden Years of Vol Ball were under Bruce Pearl, eh?

1964, that's a ton of history.

I think of a few as three. You might want to research a little more. UT is not a historically strong bball school but they've certainly been top tier in the SEC for quite a while now.

There should be a "Check in if you have more Elite Eight Appearances Than Tennessee" thread.

Agree. AU and UT (before Pearl) were mirror programs. Maybe Martin was having a hard time getting someone else's recruits to buy into his system. IDK. But to fire a guy who took you that deep into the tourney is insane.

Not recnetly. They're top 3. If they want to get into the top 2 they need to improve.

WHat they did before the three point line really doesn't matter at all to me.

Then they (tennessee) should probably try to build up a bit more and get one themselves. Which would explain how they are ok with letting a NCAA bubble type coach slip away.

I don't think i've ever stated that historically they're a monster. But i also don't judge todays events based on what happend way back when.
