your national Title came 20 years ago, at what point does that become irrelevant in the modern day?

Yep. Very similar to Petrino at Arkansas. When a coach does unprecedented things, expectations are increased.
Totally agree with you here. Cuonzo's only downfall was that he was not Bruce Pearl
We have a lot of Bert haters now just because he's not Petrino. I'm one of them.

So, now we just discredit everyone's basketball history because Tennessee didn't hire Bruce Pearl yet?
Arkansas May be 20 years removed from a national title....but the fact is Arkansas basketball history dwarfs that of anything UTk has ever done.
Again, UTk is arguably the 7th-9th most prestigious program in our league.

Did you not just compare all of Missouris history to all of yours?
Of course it's all relevant.
You're right. Let's compare the two conferences so that we can properly compare UT and Missouri:
Pretty even. To go alongside with UT and Missouri's relatively even history.

I think the issue here stems from Vol fans watching some talented teams in 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 underwhelm, and then a VERY talented team in 2013-2014 limp into the tournament only to finally play up to their potential once they got there. Most non-UT fans didn't pay close attention to the previous 90+ games that Cuonzo coached and are only looking at the Sweet 16 run.
Any decent coach could have done what he did in 3 years, and any above average coach could have done much, much more than what he did in his tenure.
I don't blame non-UT fans for thinking the way they do as they're not invested in UT's success the same way that UT fans are.
UT fans simply know that the past 3 years could have and should have been much more successful than what they were.
And Cuonzo didn't exactly stack the cupboard with his recruiting "prowess" to be successful moving forward, so whoever takes the job has an uphill climb ahead of them.
Throw me in with the rest of the delusionals, but I'm certainly not upset that he's gone.

If you're going by this logic, then Tennessee is the 2nd most prestigious program in football. You know, cause we have so many championships, conference titles, wins, and bowl appearances, who cares if it's been a while since any of that?

So what? Tennessee's football history is outstanding as well and we hired Butch Jones. National titles won in the 90s don't mean much.
Arkansas basketball and Tennessee football are both irrelevant.

You have two.

And when have either of you seen me dogging UTk football?
I think Arkansas now has the right coach in place to get back to making runs towards titles.
Both UTk football and Arkansas basketball are similar. Both making bad hires that hurt each respective programs more. Historical programs don't die....they may have down times, but they'll always be back.

Both Arkansas basketball and Tennessee football are in deep trouble with their current head coaches. Dead programs relying on sub-par coaches to dig them out.

Anderson will be fine here. Sub par coaches don't take other mediocre programs to their pinnacle.
Anderson inherited a train wreck here left by Pelphrey. Our programs issues went well beyond the court.

He was specifically referring to national titles. (He made a clear distinction in his original post.)
I'm willing to allow UT to claim 1938, but that brings them up to only 3 national titles, tying them with LSU and Florida.

1938, 1940, 1950, 1951, 1967, 1998

38, 50, 51, 98.
That's not including 40 and 67, both of which are also claimed.
