I'm heading down in three weeks with some friends and am making it a BBQ mission as well.

So far on the list of possibles are...

- The BBQ Nachos at Central BBQ
- The rib tips at Tom's BBQ
- Pulled pork sandwich at Payne's BBQ
- The baloney sammich at the Cozy Corner
- Something at Tops BBQ since it's close to the hotel.

Any other BBQ recommendations?

Musically, it's not quite as heavy with headliners as in past years when I've gone, but I suppose seeing Kid Rock will be a must. Joan Jett and Blues Traveler, too. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to the Carolina Chocolate Drops on the bluegrass tip, Tony Joe White and his swamp rock, and most any of the acts in the Blues Tent will be top notch.

Makes sure to see Jason Isbell, and Alabama Shakes is something you should see.

Isbell is formerly of the Drive By Truckers, a heavy weight band in the alternative country scene.

He's got a few great solo records, but 'Southeastern' from last year is one of the best songwriter albums of all time. No really, it is.

You will love the Carolina Chocolate Drops, they are fantastic. And Sleepy is right - Jason Isbel and Alabama Shakes are must-see entertainment as well.

I couldn't tell you the number of times I've been to Top's but I've never had BBQ. They make the best burgers in Memphis.

Germantown Commissary is great as well.

Pulled pork at the BBQ Shop on Madison.

Central blows.

Also, try anything from Tops.

If you go to Central, get the dry rub chicken wings.

At the BBQ Shop, try the bologna and cheese plate.

Smoked Cornish game hen at Cozy Corner.

Under no circumstances should you let anyone take you to Corky's.

What about the Memphis bbq big names? Are they all overrated? Rendeveus etc?

Rendezvous is still good. Not quite as good as it used to be, but I would still say it's a place you have to go when visiting Memphis.

To me, Corky's is really the only one that is just awful.
