I have some friends going to an event in Columbia this weekend and will have from Saturday around noon until whenever they go to sleep to do stuff. They are staying about 2 miles from campus. Any recommendations on stuff they can do? My visits to Columbia have just been the stadium so I have no idea where to tell them to visit, bar/restaurant wise. All mid 20s by the way. Any advice I can pass on to them?

Really not sure what they're into, so no idea about the first half of the day...

But for the evening I always recommend the Vista for bar hopping and dinner locations. Lots of good bars (again would depend on the kind of people they are to know which ones to steer them towards...) and great food from cheapish to expensive (seafood, sushi, continental, oriental, steak, variety... depends on what they want). There are lots of shops in the area as well, if they are into that kind of thing.

They could tailgate and go to the spring game from 12-2pm. The baseball game with Florida is sold out for Saturday. The Vista and 5 points will probably start hopping after spring game.

They are doing a mud run that morning. They have zero interest in going to USC's spring game. My suggestions were more so about evening stuff (well, bars mostly) and a good dinner spot. I have no idea what they'll want to do in the afternoon but any ideas are welcome. Shower and rest might be a priority though I would guess.

Take a cooler and head down to the river rocks on the I-26 side of the Riverbanks Zoo. Should be perfect weather.

For dinner places I would recommend Blue Marlin (and to a lesser degree Pearlz or Oyster Bar) (seafood), Liberty Tap Room (Americana), Motor Supply (little bit of everything, menu changes daily but it's all top shelf), Thirsty Fellow or Mellow Mushroom (pizzas are good), Ruth's Chris or Carolina Strip Club (Steaks), Tsunami or Takosushi (sushi, Takosushi obviously has a Mexican side as well). There's a several other smaller places, but that'll give you a good start.

As for drinking later it runs the gamut from college kiddy (Tin Roof, Uncle Festers, Social, Flying Saucer (the latter to a lesser extent)), alternative (Art Bar, the Whig), sports (Wild Hare, Ale House, Wild Wing) to other (Wet Willie's (don't go there, seriously...), Jillian's, World of Beer etc.).

There's plenty there, they could just park and walk around and hit a lot of places.

The only acceptable place in The Vista is Uncle Louie's.

Of all the things I miss about Columbia, I miss that place the most.

I like Uncle Louie's, but I wouldn't go that far

Ale House, Flying Saucer and Tin Roof are dope.

Wild Hare is alright if you're trying to watch a game

Jillians has a metric shite ton of pool tables

This is kinda random but this thread made me think of it but I was in town for the 2011 Auburn game and ate friday night at a small brewery in town. Little 2 story brick building with the second floor more or less being around the sides of the room. Any idea what it was called. I had a bomb arse grilled duck with grits.
