It's amazing to see how the stars aligned for Petrino the last two years

Two years ago this week it seemed that Petrino was done forever. Petrino had been at Arkansas for several years. They won some games, but you were starting to get the feeling that Petrino knew he couldn't get them to the next level. He was able to beat the mid-tier and lower tier SEC teams, but got drummed when he went up against the top teams every year.

Now Petrino is in a much better situation. He got back on his feet a year later, and then the Louisville job opens up at the same time they join the ACC.

Talk about a perfect situation.

They were kind of stable as a upper mid-tier SEC West team. Petrino's offense seemed to get rocked by Saban every year.

He never beat Bama but he didn't have much trouble beating anyone else.

He was 3-1 against Auburn. Does that mean you are saying Auburn is a mid-tier or lower tier SEC team?

You must be new here. This is a flame Arkansas thread. No sense in pointing out the actual facts.

To be fair, OP said Petrino struggled against the top teams.

The years that Petrino beat Auburn, Auburn was definitely not a top tier team.

Petrino would get smoked by Gus though.

So when can we expect the jet from Auburn to make it's way to Louisville to push Gus out the door?

The 2003 Auburn team was a top 2 or 3 most talented team in the SEC last decade, and Tubs only won 7 games with them thanks to him promoting a BBQ crew member. The jet was the right thing to do.
